Yes Nitrons are well rated although if you intend doing a lot of mileage the 20,000 mile rebuild interavl might be worth baring in mind if they have been on the car your looking at for a while ~although the £80/shock a fair price with the +point that they are Serviceable not treated as a disposable

Consider a S1 111s (with maybe £500 put aside for suspension if it's still on standard Konis) or a S2 135R (won't need anything upgraded). Both are fairly well sorted out of the box.

That is pretty much where I am at just now, I was thinking about the S1 111S as it has the C/R box and a bit more power than standard. I have been keeping an eye on the S2 135R's but they are at the top end of my budget. Still like the 135 Sport if I could get the right car for the right money.
Anyway, I am stuck off-shore just now so wont be able to get much dome about cars till I get back.

s2 Bilstien suspension on an s1 makes a big difference. I've had my car on them for about a year, and it's much nicer to live with. Seems to have much less body roll yet soaks the bumps up better than the Konis. Bell & Colville (Lotus dealer down south) do the official Lotus kit for £450 if you call them and ask nicely (it was originally a group by a few years ago, but when I bought mine the guy said to me it's pretty much a permanent offer.
I believe this differs slightly from the Steve Butts kit as Steve's kit makes the car sit slightly lower (standard kit is -5 or 10mm front and rear, Steve's is more, and potentially customisable)
I reckon the Bilstiens are currently on back order with Lotus so if you do get an s1 that has Konis, keep in mind it may take a couple of months to get this kit.
Also keep an eye on the classifieds on here, the current trend sees good cars often coming up for sale and ending up in Europe!
