5700 ECU Remap worth it?

Post by mikeep » Mon Nov 23, 2009 6:29 pm

Hi,

Can't seam to find a definitive answer on the forum for this.

Has anyone had the remap done? If so, was it worth it and where did you get it done.

I do like the cam change, but sometimes in mid overtake, wished it came in a little earlier.

I've had a price from Formula 1 Lotus in Newcastle £595 + VAT (eeekkk). I know Hangar 111 does it for around £299 + vat. A slight discrepancy me thinks :D

Are they both the Lotus remap (which is what the upgrade entails from them - not just the cam change point IIRC, it's a "Motorsports ECU Upgrade") or is Hangar111 just offering an exchange ECU with the cam change lowered?

Genuine question - would explain the difference.

Not Sure. The price from Hangar is for "ECU Optimisation Motorsport with 5700 Cam Switch".

I asked F1 for a remap to do the same and that's what they got back to me with.

Just wondered if anyone has had it done and likes it.

A few on here have had it done. It is a ridiculous price but they have a captive audience. It is just a re-flash, ie putting a different map in as we do in our Emeralds or Hondata K-Pros via the USB port, but they have the monopoly on it and can charge what they like.

As far as I know you do not have an option but to be screwed.

The cost depends on which ECU you have. Type A is more expensive to change than the type B, by about £100. Looking to get this done as well sometime soon. B&C do it for both £495 + vat for the type A and £395 for the type B. To find the type you have just look at the label on your ECU and if it starts with an A then it's an A etc.
