nice thought, 'cos it's a good engine but isn't it a bit of a heavy lump to have in the back of a 'Liz?
(but do they do a DSG gearbox option to go with it

.)

Sounds great, but I can't help wondering why they studiously ignore the questions about it's weight... By reputation, it drags the nose of a Golf or Audi TT wide (versus the heavy VAG 20v turbo no less!!), so I can only fear what it'd do to the handling of an Elise...
Shame they didn't look at a more suitable engine, weight wise, to spend their time developing for. But I suppose it might appeal to straight line warriors or polishers - can't imagine it being anything but comedic on track.

Pretty sure its a steel block. Well done for doing the conversion, looks well done but the weight must be a problem.

"We strongly recommend a brake upgrade." Not 'arf.
Don't see the attraction of this upgrade myself. Poor bhp/litre, poor tuning potential and the centre of gravity of the car must be drastically altered.
I'm surprised the Rover 1.8t hasn't been dropped into a few more Elises. Must be a relatively straighforward swap over, cheap as chips, lightweight and useful torque gains over the standard K.

Apart from the turbo being in the fuel tank/bulkhead.
Steve Butts is doing a turbo/supercharged K on SELOC at the mo - has to hack holes in the bulkhead and heatproof - not an easy task, I'm afraid.

many moons ago I was put off for the same reason

, although you could relocate the turbo to the exhaust space.

With 300bhp I would think tuning isn't a major issue

I can't see any advantages over a vtec or Duratec conversion.

To expand, I see nothing but disadvantages over the above, apart from the exhaust note. Lots more weight in the wrong place and no boot seem like too many negatives for one positive..
Still - someone must think it's a good idea and good work to them to get the thing working, not easy. Can't see them retiring on the sales though.
