Passed through security with huge celebrity!

Was just at Aberdeen airport getting my flight to Norway and when passing through security saw a small group being escorted through, there were no lines to wait in as I was flying with Eastern Airways so they have there own fast track through anyway went to boots to grab a drink and something to eat with my colleague and when I turned round I almost bumped into someone, I apologised she said after you in a very clear and pronounced Australian accent, any ideas?

Anyway the very very small, female continued on her way, being escorted through the airport with a very tall young man and an elderly man. they headed off and 2 seconds later my colleague came rushing up to me all excited and flustered and started speaking to me in a rushed high pitch tone asking if I knew who that was.

Turns out it was Kylie Minogue and I hadn't had the slightest idea, she is so small she almost looks disabled and she had her hair pulled back into a bun and no make up on, quite a shame because although she is older I always figured her to be a hotty, sorry to spoil folks but afraid she really isn't, and she is honestly so small and her figure so slim she looks like a midget.

Anyway I was quite surprised and while we walked to our gate we passed two airport personnel on the phone to a friend to family speaking about Kylie.

So does anyone have any idea what Kylie is doing in Aberdeen?

Also has anyone here had any experiences like this themselves where they have come across a celebrity and not noticed, or even have noticed.

Cool! I love Kylie!! I have done since I was 5 years old! I met Kevin McCloud from Grand Designs in the New Acropolis Museum in Athens in June. He was shooting a bit of film that was aired in October, and I just marched straight up to him and started talking!! Not like me at all! My camera had run out of batteries so I had to get a pic using my iphone and the pic quality is rubbish:

If I had realised it was Kylie I would have got a photo, maybe even a cheeky kiss on the cheek, but didn't know it was her till she was gone.

I ain't the shy type so wouldn't have fussed me, anyway shame I didn't realise myself. Would have expected fans or photographers or anything, hmmm, o well.

I've no idea why Kylie would have been in Aberdeen but I also had a celeb spot last week.

I was in Footlocker in Miami and there was a regular guy just standing at the counter waiting for a girl to check on some stock for him. Pauline thought she recognised him and started doing the miming thing. I didn't have a clue and the staff didn't look that fussed about it. When he went outside there were a couple of photographers waiting to pap him.

Turns out it was Russell Simmons of Def Jam fame. Pauline recognised him from watching Run's House on MTV. He has a cool fortune of $345 million. There was no entourage - just a black Escalade sitting outside.

I have a great story on this line, sorry it's bit lengthy. Was going through security at Edinburgh Airport during Festival time this year and ended in the Q next to Amanda Redman (DCI Sandra Pullman in New tricks). For a man of my age she's pretty top totty so started chatting, she had been watching a few shows etc chat chat, was quite enjoying myself. Sent txt to my daughter saying "chatting to DCI Sandra Pullman, she must be working alone as I can't see the old guys" Got one word response "Arse". Any way we got to the scanner and my bag got pulled, Amanda smiled, then I broke out in a cold sweat, was going for a full medical that day, work related MOT thing, and had totally forgotten I had three rather embarrasing medical slides in my bag basically,stool samples. How uncool, fortunately they found the offending article in my bag before the samples but I was so embarresed I picked up all my stuff and ran off without say another word to Amanda Redman. What an opportunity missed.

Alastair Darling and his entourage were on my flight back from London City Airport in October. Spotted his hair/eyebrow combination a mile off.
They got Range Rover & Jag service straight to the steps of the plane & then took up the entire first 4 rows....
The rest of us were crammed in the portacabin style departure-gate sweating our nuts off cos they wouldn't open a door for air whilst the dignitaries were still manouvering.

I'm pretty sure someone important must have also been on my flight from EDI-LCY earlier that same day because all passengers were on the bus ready to be taken to the plane when we were asked to return to the gate. 'Technical problem'. We then boarded 30mins later and there were a few Range Rovers next to the plane also, and the guys with guns... no idea who, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with our 'Technical problem'.

My friend is a pilot with BA and he does the Edinburgh -London City flights. He might have been the pilot on that occasion if you were flying with BA. Completely off-topic and useless info I know!

Anyway, I have also met Prince Charles when the band I played with while at school played at the opening of the fountain at Hopetoun House. It was pouring of rain and we're sitting outside with no jackets on, and he turns up an hour late, blaming it on Jimmy Saville. Then I met Prince Andrew at Haddo House, while playing in the opera there. He was nice. And I was invited to the Queens garden party at Holyrood in 2002, but I didn't meet her, although my friend did just 5 minutes before meeting with me. I have met Robin Cook at a concert I did with said band before too and I had to get my pic taken with him for the paper.

My Dads cousin played the keyboards in America and toured with Tina and Ike Turner and Roy Orbison to name a few, before being involved in an accident and hasn't been able to play professionally since.

I also played in the orchestra with Katherine Jenkins at Balmoral for the Queens 50th birthday
celebration. She was lovely and much prettier in real life.

Also, my teacher at the RSAMD is friends with the trumpet player who did all the Star Wars music, and I know the guy that played the trumpet in the James Bond films. That's pretty cool!!

I think that's everyone I have or someone I know has met/had dealings with. There are probably more though.

Picked up Zara Phillips a few years back in N1 from Balmoral Castle. She was going out with my Godson Ben, and it was his 18th birthday party, and they both went to Gordonstoun. However she had to stay at tuttowers and not Ben's parents because of security.

You all know what N1 looked like then, plus me in bare feet and tracksuit bottoms, so after being cleared by Security I was waiting outside the front door. Along comes her mum, Princess Anne back from walking the dog, asks why I am there, then invites me inside. The whole family was there apart for the Queen, Queen mum, Philip, Charles, Andrew, Edward, William, Harry, and assorted others.

Fortunately I knew Zara and had met Charles a few times, my mate taught him to fly helicopters in the Navy, and some of you may remember the story of when Thor and I met him in Aden Park, and Thor thought his sporran was a rabbit. On the way back home I drove it the way one would which she loved, then asked me if she could have a shotty. That would be a first, but obviously I did. Scared the hell out of me, and later I learnt that she had written off her own car, and the week before Peters as well, her brother.

However it was a great weekend, you can imagine the gang that were there from School, Royal Family friends etc, but what a shower of reprobates, smoking pot, snorting cocaine, pissed as rats, and that was just at breakfast. I spent hours taking them out for a spin around the local roads, first experience for them of what a real car could do, so was accepted as one of the clan, and had a great time myself. Don't think that there was one Hooray Henry amongst them.

Hi there I'm new, but got a good spot!


I was at the SMRC dinner dance and awards presentation at the Sheraton Grand in Edinburgh on Saturday, Spoke to and shook David Coulthard's hand!!

There was David Coulthard, Dario Franchitti, Paul DiResta and Alan McNish all in the photo, loads of other pretty big names too which was cool!

Gen Ross, Ben was going out with Zara for two years, but the press never got hold of it. She often came over for weekends, but out in the sticks you could go in the Village pubs without anyone knowing who she was. Photos were not allowed, so unfortunately never got one of her in N1. Was funny though when she spoke about Gran, and Great Nanna.

Lovely girl, Anne never gave her the title Princess, so it kept her out of the limelight in the early years which is what they wanted.
