Poetry

Post by m.crawford » Tue Dec 08, 2009 9:46 am

I wrote this this morning while waiting for the RAC. It describes life with the car and what happened this morning!

HGF

Check the level, check the mark,
Watch the oil, watch the spark,
Is it blowing hot or cold,
Is it seeping through the holes?

My obsession, call it that?
Or paranoia better tact!
Is it running far too warm,
Is the gasket getting worn?

85C, 94C, 109C, 114C,
And it's blown...

K Series Lament

I filled it up with water,
Exactly to the line.
I drove it into Glasgow,
And now it's needing it again.

It isn't coming out the bottom,
It isn't coming out the cap,
No puddles in the driveway,
No snail trails down the tank.

So it's coming out the back, right?
Those tell tale clouds of steam?
But in winter every car steams,
Driver's cheerful, unaware.

But this driver isn't cheerful,
Too painfully aware,
Of '09 without a car,
Oh not another year!

How about:

Of '09 without a car,
I'll see you in the bar?

Or

But this driver isn't cheerful,
Too painfully aware,
Of '09 without a car,
Not again, I might swear!

:-(

Cheers,
Robin

a Haiku for your predicament.

during cold weather
head gasket failure may come
but steam is normal

There was an SE'er with a car
That could drive so incredibly far
But it came to a stop
When the gasket went pop
So it's time to get drunk in a bar.
