Yeah, well.

I don't have an issue with that anymore :D

Been about long enough for those who know me to know that I have the groups best interests at heart.

Or should that be groups'

Personally i think this forum is great. It can be a break from the intenseness and sometimes kinda 'cleeky' nature of the Yahoo group  . I'm well up for folk jumping from here to Yahoo, but (am i'm not tryin to rock the boat here) there can be a lot of a "big fish in a small pond" attitude over there with all the long time owners ego's. So although nobody wants a them and us split, i think it would be good to keep things as they are. There's links to Yahoo from here and vice versa. Then anyone who joins can try both and see which style suits their needs/personality best. :thumbsup Just my opinion. :D

i suggested a wee while ago that we should set up some sort of automatic cross post. I like the info and chat on yahoo but like the format here. For me it's pure;y am ease of use thing.

Seem to be going a touch off the direction I was aiming at.

For the current SE'rs there are two options and most of us know about them. However, previous Poll have shown that a BBS style isn't for everyone and neither is the Yahoo groups format either.

So to maximise the number of ACTIVE members I think we should but the http://WWW.SCOTTISHELISES.COM URL to good use and use it as a standard that both groups can come under, to further what the group was started for - a vehicle for like minded folk to express themselves, share knowledge and gain help should problems occur with their cars.

I believe that both the Yahoo & BBS forums have their places and that together they WILL increase the membership of SE. I have seen folk join the yahoo group to find them leave quite quickly due to the nature of the list - some may even have though that the list memebership were a bunch of anal tossers

All I'm suggesting is that we have two camps and one bloody good URL - lets use it to further the elise cause in Scotland.

:damnfunny :thumbsup Ha ha ha, what a memory. Your never gonna let me forget that. All i'm sayin is.... If you read some of the posts that the new folk to the Yahoo S_E group put up about Knockhill for example. Sayin there were a few of primadonnas who walked around with their noses in the air, not willing to make themselves open to new people. E.g wanted to be seen as the big fish. I think that the Yahoo is set in its way and will stay like that. I personally feel that it can/could be a bit intimidating for new members to break into (myself included), having witnessed folk join, then stop posting within a few weeks. Where as this is a way more relaxed, easy goin, freindly forum. We should use the www. banner, but i cant see the long time Yahoo folk moving to here, so we should use the same main page, some will want to link to Yahoo, some to freeyabb. (depending on how anal they are  )

Now I'm confused.

I think I was suggesting a front page on http://www.scottishelises.com that introduced the group and let new folk know that there is a choice - and inform them about which one might suit them best.

I like to think of it as being one big pub - some folk like to stand at the bar whilst others like to take a seat in the lounge.

Cheers

Mac

Would be the ideal, but (to make it clear for folks not in the know) it's been tried (by an internet professional) and there is no stable way to do this.

I actually think the split format is working quite well and seems to have attracted a new genre of Elise drivers (those who used their Mountain Bikes as a trade in)

As Gordon said it's not as hard core here as it is on the list which isn't a bad thing.

You pays your money and takes your choice.

(or bounce between the two)

I'll bounce between the two. Need to keep my status as 3rd biggest timewaster on the Yahoo group :P

(currently in 2nd place here, Shug is in a league of his own ;))

Okay, not gonna wade in here, but need to straighten a few things:

Gordon - your reception on the Yahoo list was not typical. Not sure why (can't remember and honestly, it's not a big deal) but you got the worst side of it. I remember joining at least 3 years ago and being greeted by all and sundry. If I went over to someone at KH, I got a bit of friendly chat. Now, we know who you are talking about specifically, but it is completely unfair to tar the whole list with one brush... If you got the reception you say you did at the KH pitlane from others, then the group really has changed in these years :(

Mac - I know you're not trying to throw your weight about - I know you well enough to know you're trying to make Scottish Elises grow. However, can we sit off this for a bit? At least 'till you have a word with Del about a new site and we can then go about it. I don't think anybody has a problem with the .com being used as a front page for the whole group - so there's no need for the hard sell! I'm also involved in a major job over the weekend (which starts now) so can't really input much (FYI, I've paid for the .com, on behalf of the group, so I control the pointing of it and will do whatever the concensus tells me to)

Okay folks? :)
