Just gone mid-night and it's snowing in ABZ, another 2 inches in the last hour+. Still going strong, tomorrow is going to be interesting. Not as cold as they were forecasting 0deg right now.

The main problem I've noticed, is that when the snow lies on the fast lane of the motorway, most people are terrified to drive in it - I drove up to Aberdeen on Monday night, and the vast majority of cars I passed were trundling along at 20-30mph in the slow lane, 6 ft from the leading car's rear bumper...And if a gritter was on the road, they'd follow that too, having the front of their car's peppered...

I do have to say, that the Toyo Snow Proxes I had fitted to the 100HP have been superb...Make a huuuuuge difference to available grip in snow... :thumbsup

Winter tyres are the way forward!

I live in West Linton just south of Edinburgh and we are completely snowed in this morning. Another 5 inches overnight, well over a foot in total now, and it is still dumping. Zero chance of goin anywhere in my rear drive Beemer. Fantastic - nae work today and I get to avoid a terminally dull monthly meeting with an obnoxious client in Glasgow :D

Vote Rossini for Lane 2 clearing duties :-)

10cm fresh here in Linlithgow overnight, kids are going to go nuts. If the temps hold down for just two more days, it's going to be the whitest Christmas I've seen in a couple of decades and certainly something for them to remember!

Just got a txt notification advising all schools closed in West Lothian so the sleding pistes are going to be MOBBED :-)

Bad here in Livi - worst snow I've ever seen. I spent half an hour clearing the Skoda this morning, drove 1/4 mile and decided that my warm cosy house was a better bet than spending the day in the car so I turned back. I work in Linlithgow and really didn't fancy the trip over the Bathgate hills.

Anyone able to accurately predict what the state of play as regards flights in ABZ will be later this afternoon?

I'm supposed to be flying up from Norwich (for the last time YAY!) later today, and would dearly love to get back before Christmas Day.
Cheers,

Simon

Depending on the weather down there and who you're flying with you should be ok. If you're flying with bmi regional tonight, I can assure you they usually don't give up easily and look at every possibility before cancelling. I'm sure you'll get home tonight.

I've just ordered a set for the g/fs corsa for me to use, Goodyear F1s are useless in the snow. We're selling it next year so didn't want to spend £350-£400 on a set of winter tyres. I'll see how these goes, well when they turn up, we haven't had any post for a while coz the postie can't get to us.

I had to leave at 0530 this morning to pick my son and family up from Aberdeen train station, allowed 1.30 but took less than an hour on snowless roads, also the same in the city centre. Partial thaw set in.

That's why I opted for Winter Tyres - My car had Eagle F1 GSD's fitted as standard, and they're terrible in the snow...

Provided the g/f's Corsa doesn't have huuuge rims, you're looking at £40-ish a tyre from Camskill...I paid £160~ for 4 delivered last year, and £40 to have them fitted to my existing (15") wheels...Sub- £200 all in...Fit them from September to March - Job's a carrot... :thumbsup

The wheel socks are decent by all accounts, but you'd need to remove them pretty quickly, if the road you're driving on thaws out...(Think they also have speed limitations??)

A colleague from Livingston was snowed in on Monday, so clearly not getting any better since!

Where in Linlithgow do you work Kev?

Hi Campbell (and happy Christmas BTW)

How was it near you this morning? I got snowed in (even with the Volvo) which is the first time in ten years! I and a few civic minded neighbours decided to clear the main road into our scheme with what shovels we had. Got to keep the wheels of Falkirk industry turning!

Can't wait to take the seven out in it
