Oh FFS...

Post by Great Pretender » Tue Dec 22, 2009 1:32 pm

Is anyone else embarrassed to be British right now?

How on earth does Scandinavia, Russia and Eastern Europe etc cope if we can't even make it out our fecking driveways without bringing the entire road network to a halt?

This morning I woke up find about 8" of the white stuff (steady at the back...) and then had to make my way to the airport, which was made all the more hazardous by the fact that my fellow road users were either a) in a blind panic or; b) playing the hero (taxi drivers) and not allowing themselves enough room to stop/turn etc.

It's embarrassing. I cannot help but imagine how our neighbours over the North Sea are in fits of laughter right now. Hell - I bet even your average Scandinavian female OAP is more than able to perform a perfect scandi-flick in her aging Volvo 240 without stuffing it into a ditch

Sorry, rant over. Safe driving everyone.
Cheers,

Simon

To be fair, these countries do fit proper winter tyres and/or snow chains.

I'm with you in general though that there are so many numpties out even when the roads aren't that bad.

Surely there's a market here for snow chains then???? My wee mini beat all yer other fancy motors up the hill the other night - only because I slammed it into 2nd and took it slowly up the hill.

Not tried them yet but took delivery of a pair owing to a late night journey to Turriff to spend christmas with the in-laws in my wife's BMW. In the interests of science it would be interesting to try them. However at 10pm on christmas eve with wife, 2 sister in laws and the boyfriend of one of them, the boot full of gifts and the roof box filled with luggage I'm not sure I'll be in the bost objective of moods if we do need to employ them. Will report back if I need to though.
