Beware, if you need to cancel your policy they will bend you over.
You would think your insurance policy was pro-rata and therefore they would refund you accordingly. Think again, not only did I incur an admin fee (fair enough) but they also charged me the commission they were paid on the policy. (A further £50).

I chuffing HATE insurance companies...... Hate to think what they would have been like if I had to claim.

Insurance companies operate on a very simple business model - you give them money, they do everything they can to keep it. Hence I say never insure anything you can afford to lose!

A few companies out there like that.

If I am looking for cheap Insurance for Ian or Luke and do not know the company, I google on them first. Some horrendous stories from the likes of Budget, etc. I changed Ian's Insurance on the TT with Endsleigh half way through the monthly payments, and not only did they not charge me any penalties, they sent me a cheque for £300.

its certainly a sh*t rule ed, but every insurance company i have ever used does the same thing, but theres no excuse for being surprised. Its written in the wee booklet called t & c's

I paid a year up front (CO-OP Insurance services) for the wife last christmas, she sold the car in june... No refund Thought I whould have been due a few months refund but they said it was admin fees and cancellation fees? I will never pay insurance upfront again!

I'd AVOID TESCO too....
I was insured with them for 3-4 years fitted a set of second hand 18's to my car, I let them know and they wanted a reciept so I sent them what I got.

That's no good Mr MacKenzie we need a VAT reciept

they're second hand the guy is not vat registered!

Oh well we're going to have to charge you for the wheels from the start date of your policy 4 yeasr ago

Erm no your not!

They wanted more for me fitting secondhand wheels (£400 odd) than the policy cost for a year (£280)
this went on for months with them phoning me at work etc
Stopped when I got the insurance ombusman involved

I WILL NEVER USE TESCO INSURANCE AGIAN!

Heritage's cancellation is pretty harsh IIRC - but they were totally upfront about it

When I sold my bike, the insurance company wanted an extra 30 quid to cancel the policy!

Im with A-plan as well.

Was updating records as I recently moved out of town (cheaper insurance you think seeing the car is now garaged). WRONG.

I ended up paying them money for admin changes and no saving to my policy what so ever.

Same here. I moved and let them know. Similarly safe postcode, but they still charged me another £40 . Let Chris Knott know for my wife's policy "no problem sir we'll change that for you for no charge". Renewal just came up and I've gone back to Chris Knott. Gave A-Plan a go for a year, and won't be using them again.

When I put my wifes private number plate on her new people carrier I got charged 20 quid admin.....and the the lady said the premium might go up....it did by 16 quid...WTF! RAC it was.....shopping around for that when the renewal is due
