For some reason thinking that because someone seems nice, indeed the almost epitome of a gentleman, it must be someone else.
:withstupid

 and

Thinking exactly the above when half way through page 2 of this thread and read Pete's post. I didn't know Brian that well but being someone who also turns up at midweek tracknights in a suit 'n' tie (although virtually a scruff compared to the very dapper Brian), our conversations usually started as we made our way to get changed before signing on. The word 'gent' has been used many times already but it is so spot on and he will be remembered by me as that smiling, friendly gent who would always welcome you on arrival.
So sad to hear of his passing. Condolences to the family.

Very sad news. Truly a lovely guy, Brian was one of the first SE'ers I met. He was kind enough to take me out at Knockhill one cold February (3 years ago now) before I had my own Exige, it's not overstating it to say that was really what sold me on getting my own one day.

Over the past few years he would always make time to say hello whenever our paths crossed, I'll miss those little encounters.

RIP Brian, my deepest condolences to his wife and family.

I will call Linda tomorrow, and if she would like me to, I will print out the thread so that she can see what his friends thought of him, and what a loss we felt when we heard the news.

I can only echo the sentiments of everyone else, the world has lost a true gentleman.

Laura and I had the pleasure of Brian's company at dinner on the Friday night of TT2007, and following on from that, every time we passed him on foot in the West end, he'd always give us a wave or stop to chat.

His passion for cars, food, wine and all the finer things in life made him a true character, who'll be sadly missed at Knockhill, karting nights and the social side of Scottish Elises.

Gutted to hear this, Brian made me smile every time I saw him.

KH will have certainly lost some of its class without its gentleman racer.

RIP buddy

PS Am I right in thinking that our gentleman racer was the only one to have pegged a Jaaaag round KH ?!

Kat asked me to add,

"I didn't know him very well but at Knockhill and xmas Karting he made me feel very welcome, he also made me feel comfortable enough to chat to him. My thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time. Rip Brian"

I've just read this news and am shocked and lost for words.

Brian was one of the regulars at the SIDC track events from the very early days in all his cars. He was genuinely a top bloke, always had a minute or 5 to chat with you, always smiling and cheery regardless of the weather at KH.

RIP in Brian, you will be very sadly missed.

I was shocked and numbed to hear this sad news.

Brian was one of the most content, happy and friendly people I've ever had the pleasure to meet.
I'll miss his company - but continue attempting to emulate his super-smooth driving style.
Trackdays at Knockhill just won't be the same without him.

Condolences to his family.

... and Goodbye to a real gentleman.

I've not been on SE for a few days so please excuse the delay.

Where do you start? A few experiences?

Brian, in his usual dress, took me on my first laps of KH in his exige. He was very smooth and therefore fast....I was very scared! I bought an exige a month later....enough said! After that he always took time to talk to me......"a true gent" doesn't even get close to covering it!

My most recent meeting with Brian was at the SE karting and curry. At the karting Brian was his usual self and mega competitive, I started in front of him but he pressured me into a mistake (and the tyres) then ran away from me. At the curry we only chatted for a short time but I always enjoyed speaking to him.......he was a very funny man.

If more people (and that includes me) were more like Brian, the world would be a better place.

Rest in peace sir, you will be sadly missed.

I thought it very apt that he drove a Noble.....and immediately offered me a drive
