boot problem...

Post by skellyjohn » Sun Jul 23, 2006 5:11 pm

I'm a hopeless with anything that requires screwdrivers or spanners but hope that with a little help, I can fix it.

I have 3 bits:

The springy thing.
A bolt.
A thing about 3cm by 2cm with a round hole in it.

I think I need to get the bolt in behind the fibre glass bit but I've no idea how.

Anybody help?

Pictures?

I'm worse with technology than I am with spanners!

What is the problem exactly? What has come to bits?

Without pics it could be difficult....

Sorry Richard. I'm hopeless!

The actual lock mechanism is fine. It's the bit that fits on to the boot lid.

The thing that looks like a mini shock absorber with the spring round it, has detached itself from the boot lid. I can't see how it goes back on. I'm left with a bolt (fits on the end of springy thing) and a 2cm by 3cm square thing with a hole in it.

Don't loose sleep on it but if you have a peak at yours and post which order they go back together in, it would be a great help.

Thanks again.

Bear in mind my Liz is a Bootbag type with an Ali back deck not fiberglass. Not sure when they changed over.

Looks like the rectangle bit goes into the pocket on the back deck and the springy bit screws into it.
