Brian Jamieson - Fund
Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
Just off the phone to Ian Forrest at KH, as I was not sure if he knew Brian. In fact he did very well as he used to race against him in the XR2 series, and also from all his Trackdays there.
He was obviously upset at the news as he has just hit 60 himself, but thought that the Memorial to Brian was a good way to remember him, and that they would also be donating to the fund.

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
Tut i mentioned this to dom, but wasn't sure if it was a good idea.
I know many folk when family have passed away having a bench put in memorial to them in a favourite place, maybe overlooking their favourite view.
I did wonder if KH would allow a bench to be put at a corner along with a plaque for Brian as it seemed to be a place he loved.
Now you have spoken to KH and they would be looking to donate maybe they may like to do this.

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
Another wee consideration now in there as well, to top it up further.
Sounds like it has been a success, look forward to seeing the trophy...albeit never perhaps likely to hold it

Campbell, we could have one for the longest owner of a single Elise, which I think is you.

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
Thanks guys, all the EFT's have come through, plus two cheques from Jim(renmure) and shooomer.
I think as a starter I will look at a good Motorsport silver Cup around the £80 mark, and get it set up for our first SIDC day.

ps believe it or not, I will be competing for best dressed driver.

In any case, let's not tempt fate...

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
Quite a few of the donations to Brian's fund just show as a Transfer with no name, but I know who they have come from.
However there was a three figure sum paid in today, so could the payee please pm me.

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
A late contribution for the memory of a true gentleman.
Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
I thought that you would be interested to know that I have had 21 contributions to Brian's Memorial Fund, for a total of £515.
I will be buying a nice big Cup in the next few days at around £80 and get it engraved, and we will decide how we would like to use the rest of the fund. For starters probably a smaller Cup for the recipients to keep when the main one changes hands.

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
Thats very impressive and shows how much S_E thought of Brian. It would also have been alot of flowers and I think its great foresight and thoughtfulness by Linda to suggest this.
The fund will further add to the great community feeling here at S_E for a long time to come. A sad passing, but a great remembrance.

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
I rarely log in, so I was very shocked to learn the sad news about Brian.
I met him 3 or 4 times on his trackday travels, especially to the exiges.com days. I always enjoyed our chats, though I never knew what his job was - we just talked about cars/trackdays! As others have said more eloquently than I am able, he was just simply "a top bloke".
The memorial fund is a brilliant idea, & it's my pleasure to support your efforts - well done SE!

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
Just been speaking to Ian Forest again, and we are going to have a silver plaque made which KH will name one of their benches after, probably the one outside the helmet store.
Quite happy to arrange everything, but I would like input as regards to what we engrave on the Cup and the plaque, as one of the wizz kids would be able to show us examples.

Re: Brian Jamieson - Fund
Glad something is being done at KH,
i think something simple on the engraving cup,
something like, "In Memory of the True Gent" Then brian's dob to date of his passing.
