A tad expensive, but this would be fab as a daily drive. Ultra rare and every bit as quick as an M3.

Not a fan of the RS. Great car no doubt, but waaayyyy to chavy. New Scirroco R instead?

Not driven a B3 but I have driven a D3 which I think has the same set up and it felt superb. Firm but still with a really good ride. You are probably right that the M3 would ultimately corner faster but I don't think the B3 quite aims to compete head on with the M3 - it is leaning a bit more towards being a comfortable GT rather than an out and out hooning machine. And I just have a rather irrational itch to own an Alpina

still think your crazy to sell the Z4 just to buy an RS G... the bottom line is the Z4 you could have easily of managed its the fact your just bored and want another car....least you seem to have that luxury

knowing you, id go back to what you did before : Buy a second hand run around (if you think it is really that critical and think we are away to live in the ICE age) and get an S2 exige.

A cautionary tale on the RS.

I took delivery of a white one last year, from the very first consignment shipped to the UK. After 1 month and 2000 miles it needed new front tyres and had been averaging 15mpg. Also it torque steers like sh*t, despite what the car mags might tell you. OK it puts 300bhp through the front wheels very well but it does torque steer. And its not especially fast either. BUT the real drawback to owning one is that every chav within a 2 mile radius wants to race you and when you park it up anywhere it's surrounded by hooded yoofs peering inside it when you get back. After about 10 weeks of owning the car, one of the guys who works for me was using it and took a baseball bat to the face one night and was relieved of the car keys. Havent seen it since. Not worthy of the hassle in my opinion, its not that special a car. I had more fun in my old mk 1 Focus RS and its far less conspicouous to drive around in. That's where my money would go if you wanted a RS badged Focus. Just my tuppence worth. Cheers, Simon.

I'm going to disagree with Simon.

I've had mine for about 4 months now (a boring blue one). I'm getting 24-26mpg through mixed driving. Mine doesn't torque steer, the way it drives out of corners is great. I'm not the worlds best driver but I'd say I could cover ground as quick in the RS as I could in my previous Porsche 997 or Elise. The reaon the RS doesn't feel that quick some of the time is the flat torque curve, it pulls steadily all the way through the revs. Some standard cars are being rolling roaded at over 370lbft torque.

I don't think mine attracts that much attention, certainly no more than an Isotope Exige would!

I've spoke to Gareth a fair bit about his options. I think the RS ticks a lot of boxes he and I need. He also needs to think about why he sold his last Exige.

I was also lucky to have one of the original Focus RS's in 2003. I think the new one is a much better car. Mind you I regret selling the old one, it will be a collectors car in future.

The downside for me it's still a Focus.... and I'd love an Exige PP, in red please Graeme
