As mentioned earlier, Scotty and I will be mooching around without cars so happy to help.Dominic wrote:Shug wrote:SIDC days have sighting laps, which shows you the way round at touring speeds. But by far the best thing to do asap during the day is blag a pax lap or two to get a feeling for the speeds and lines.
Also may be worth grabbing one of the more experienced guys to sit in your pax seat for a few laps if you are still unsure after the sighting laps etc.

Sounds good guys, been watching some KH videos on Youtube so think I have the layout sussed, just need to work on entry to corner, apex and exit speeds which can only be done on the day.
Looking forward to it, hopefully I wont be sat on the right with indicator on all day

Keep an eye out for the cones put down to help turn in - N.B. - This does not mean HIT the cones (not naming anyonevx220 wrote:Sounds good guys, been watching some KH videos on Youtube so think I have the layout sussed, just need to work on entry to corner, apex and exit speeds which can only be done on the day.

I always thought that's what they were there for?tonyg wrote: Keep an eye out for the cones put down to help turn in - N.B. - This does not mean HIT the cones (not naming anyone)
Targets?
(Especially that pesky one at the apex of the chicane, that stops you straight-lining it...

But seriously - Just go have fun...Don't worry too much about entry / apex / exit speeds - If you are able to read the speedo at any of these points, you're going way too slow...The only time to really bother glancing at the speedo, is as you pass under the bridge on the pit straight, as it'll tell you how good an exit you got out of the hairpin...
Just watch for those exiting the pits, and don't miss your braking point for Duffus...

One warning - Trackdays are addictive, and detrimental to your financial wealth...Look at me - I used to have an Elise, and now I drive a Fiat Panda...

Be warned...

Good call Scott, and a lovely offer, we shall see about that on the day!gambler wrote:Im sure there will be plenty of blue suballoos there. My kids will generally get excited to sit in anything with an engine in it. I think this might prove to be costly in 12 and 14 years' time respectively. But then, that's what their ISA savings funds are for eh

Tyre thoughts.
My rears are gubbed so will be getting changed by Ronnie before the session starts.
My fronts have a reasonable amount of tread on them and will last for a few months yet, however, they have been on for a while and been through a few heat cycles, they have also been sitting outside over a particularly harsh winter and in mind of Toyos advice (aware this most probably arse covering for the US market) about cold temp it may be best to change them.
Thoughts,
Pikey option, leave them on and put up with catastrophic understeer?
Bin the fronts for new and dent beer fund.

How gubbed are the rears Kenny? Assuming they're still legal to get you there why not finish them off on track?
(then you can keep the fronts)

Still legal* and would last the session but the left rear has been repaired so thinking taking a plugged tyre down to the canvas may not be advisable
*still legal in the head of a Lord Ed style pikey type legal. Probably very much borderline.

Kill the rears and put a fresh set on afterwards plus keep the fronts.

You know it makes sense!

Fair enough on the rears. You can drive around the fronts though, mess with pressures etc.

Keep the fronts on and if suffering some understeer either tweak geo or tyre pressures or just use the ole scandanavian flick trick!
