Mixing brake pads front and rear [vx220]

Post by Corranga » Thu Mar 25, 2010 6:28 pm

Erica ordered a set of Mintex m1144 for her vx220 (same size pads as the Elise I reckon)

She has received m1144 rears (mdb1891) and m1155 fronts (mdb1890).
Is it a bad idea to mix these?

The car is running standard discs.

I know the VX ABS is a bit crap too, are the m1155 likely to cause issues?

In theory the issue is that the 1155s heat up more slowly - although in saying that i changed 1144s for 1155s and didnt notice much difference from cold. They are different when hot though.

For the sake of £60 i'd change to the same compound front and rear.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Fuse will kill the speedo and cause idle stalls, cut the wire and add a switch if you want it off. The other option is disconnect at the hub sensor :thumbsup

I am running 1155 on the Europa, which is a VX in drag, no issues with abs , brakes have a better feel and are sharper. No idea if 44 / 55 mix will work but I would reccomend the switch to 1155.
