Don't worry Simon.

There were many cars on the track throughout the day. Reminded me of the London traffic jam  . Out of approx 110 laps, I only managed 1 or 2 clear laps

Still, it was a good day.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Did see him get a black flag and a wee talking to at one stage though, so KH on the ball.

Yes - thought track etiqute was pretty good!! even the porsche gt3rs willingly moved over every time it got lapped!!
thanks everyone for putting up with my driving...
i had new tyres on the rear, which were a profile wider (215's) and a bit lower profile so my gearing meant that i had to use second out of the hairpin, and was hitting the rev limiter in 5th at the end of the main straight.. also with the rear being lower, and tyres wider and fresh, was struggling to get sideways anywhere apart from through duffus a couple of times. Still, i reckon it was quicker in lap time terms than it has been before.

thanks all, and looking forward to the next one.

I must be 2 or 3 seconds off your pace but did spent a few laps behind you in the traffic and you clearly had a better drive out of the corners than me - it's maybe just a lack of talent on my part but I must find the money for some 13 inch wheels, tyres, and a get a proper geo done :? . With a good run out of the hairpin, I too can hit the limiter on the straight which is about 120 mph with my set-up. I guess you are in that ballpark too.

I thought your driving was spot on Mads - very impressive from the passenger seat. If only I could fit more comfortably inside a Caterham, I'd seriously consider one as a track car/weekend toy :)

@ david
i did notice you were following me for quite a few laps. 13" wheels will help, but initially fresh rubber will make a bigger difference for you. bear in mind that the rolling circumference of the wheels whether 15" or 13" is the same, just much lower profile tyres on the 15" wheels.

your car was certainly evenly matched on the straights, however you were not carrying nearly as much speed into and through the corners. that only happens with practice, and confidence with the car.
if you like next time out will take you for some pax and vice versa.
to go quick in the caterham, you really have to be confident with it getting out of shape knowing you can easily correct it.

wouldnt spend a fortune on changing the car - set up is simple, if the steering wheel is straight, and the car tracks straight under load (braking/accelleration) then geo should be fine. understeer / oversteer can be addressed by ride heights, antiroll bar and tyre pressures.

Hi, just wanted to say thanks to SIDC for a great first trackday! I hope I didn't slow you guys up too much with my MX5 but it just isn't quick enough on the straights. I thoroughly enjoyed the corners though! Definitely got to start saving for an elise! :D
