NLC - Suggest me a car
Re: NLC - Suggest me a car
Nice looking car. I had a J plate MK1 Rivage edition model.Deep blue. Electric windows/roof etc. Nice car.
Too many rattles though but it was a well looked after car, one of the last models made.
The lack of power steering is ok once moving, pretty nippy too. Think mine was the 1.8 inj engine
Happy motoring

If you have any contacts for any VW Mk1 parts/specialists that you used then I would appreciate it

Back in the day I always fancied a Spotsline in red.
Might be worth calling Jim Curley at Star Performance in Kirkcaldy to see if they can help you. They looked after all my VWs, from MkII and MkIII Golf GTi, Corrado, and Mk IV R32.
He'll tell you as it is!
Looks like you've got a good one though.

Definitely look cool. I think it has BBS's on which I have always associated with the Golf so will keep those on.
Just need to get myself a Tux and I am all set for the classic advert.

Re: NLC - Suggest me a car
In my 2 years of ownership nothing went wrong so didn't have to locate any parts etc.
I picked mine up from Lincoln, 9 hour rouind trip about 6 years ago.
Tried to buy it back last year but the guy wanted too much money.
The guy I sold it to systematicall replaced lots of components though, from headlight units to knobs and switchs
( must have been wanting away from the wife
)
I will try and get in touch to see where he sourced them from

Looks good

Re: NLC - Suggest me a car
Alan has had two Mk2 GTI's. Really liked them. The first one he sold on at a humongous profit so couldn't turn it down and the other used to be a show car. It was a great car and after he traded in the Westfield for our Civic Type R, the Golf lived in his dads garage while Alan re-built the engine, until we needed the car on the road again. Unfortuantely about two months after getting it back on the road, some idiot pulled out of a junction and into the side of me while I was driving it home and wrote it off. Iirc, someone bought it from us and spruced it up good and proper.
It had a dodgy cable going to the starter for a little while so every now and then the jannies at school would have a right laugh at me in my skirt and high heels leaning over the front of the car to start it with jump leads!
He used a guy from Bo'ness (maybe just lived there) but can't remember his name. Will try to find out for you.

Jen,
Thanks for that.
Intention is to use it as our summer run around until we get a replacement for the Evo however the more I think about it I reckon I may go down the cossetting route?
Cheers
