Watch lovers?

Which Sub is it?
Re: Watch lovers?
I was having a look in a jewellers window the other day, passing time & admiring the black faced Omega Seamaster 300M Chronometer.

But I'm skint at the moment (just paid the balance on the holiday) so don't have anything like £2K to splurge.
I didn't mind the quartz either tbh.

But at £1300, still to rich for me at the moment.
Anyway, I shifted along, glanced at the Tags & Breitlings etc, eventually getting down to the poor mans end of the window ... and couldn't believe my eyes... how the heck did Rotary get away with this one? Is it just me, or is that a pretty undesguised attempt to mimic the Omega?

I mean, they wavey face is one thing... but the red lettering, dial markers & min/hr hands.. WTF?
(£130 mind you... lol... no, I didn't buy it... did briefly consider the rubber strap one at £90 though

Re: Watch lovers?
You're right Graham - I bought a November 2009 serial 14060M COSC to match the month of the wee lad's birth. Daftly sentimental, but there we are
Double Reds are lovely, but way out of my price range. I'm not sure if I'd rather have one of them or a Comex - until I win the lottery I won't have to choose
Red Subs are more affordable, coming in at about £6k. Difficult to get one with non service replacement dials, hands, bezels, crowns, pearls etc etc. Buying vintage is fraught!

Re: Watch lovers?
Interesting and I will have a proper look when time allows but TBH I don’t even aspire to buying mega expensive rare variants. If I had say £150k going a begging and leaving aside the truly sensible options like the mortgage account I’d be buying something which is frankly – bigger. I think I would get more “utility” from a Yacht, holiday house etc than from a watch which has a slightly different dial to the one I’m wearing.GregR wrote:ot sure if you've seen this Graham, but if you're interested in the rarer Rolexes its a good read:-
Still, lots of people would say we are daft to have even moderately expensive watches when a Casio would do the job.
I take it that the new one is a keeper – given the sentimentality involved in the purchase. Perhaps a 21st birthday present for your son in due course. You really only look after these things for the next generation anyway.
