Well, for a fortnight anyway, while mine's in for a new front clam and a few other bits and pieces

It's phenomenally bad

A 5 door Peugeot 107 1 litre!

It's truly awful, the cheapest plastic combined with the cheapest upholstery! hang on, maybe it was built in Norfolk???

Cheers for that insite... I'm looking at the cheap to run 'supermini' market at the moment... with a view to chopping in the MG-ZT when we get back from summer holidays. Wife says she'd happily use a 1 or 2yr old supermini type car for commuting over the Forth bridge daily & leave the Megane for me to use instead of the thristy v6 in the MG.

I'll score the 107 off the list to check out if it's as bad as that (& probably also the C1 & Aygo at the same time then).
Twingo (GT or 133 Renaultsport) looks like a possible contender, and maybe the Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart.... after that, I'm kinda stumped (don't like the looks of the Panda 100hp... and 2nd hand Mito prices seem a bit strong).

We had an '08 Peugeot 107 until March this year, as a fleet car and extra for the office. I must admit that I enjoyed driving it when I got the chance, and during the bad weather and snow it, along with a transit, was the only vehicle I could use. Lotus and Merc just snow covered lumps in the drive.

Okay, small, tinny, but built to be lightweight and for the budget market. Road tax was £35 for the year, (no 6 month option), and was pennies to run. It even held it's value quite well, enough for a decent deposit on the replacement - a new 2010 model Citroen C3 with the big swoopy windscreen that's copied from the C4 picasso.

If you're just looking for a small, cheap, reliable car to run for a daily commute, I wouldn't rule it out.

i test drove one, and it was surprisinglyfun to drive. its not what you would call comfortable or luxurious, but it was quitechuckable, and it does mental mpg

No doubt it's a reasonable car for the money, but the build quality is a bit ropey on the one i've got. The inside door handle nearly came off when I opened the door. It's very tinny and tiny as has been mentioned before.

The new Ka I drove fleetingly a few months ago was far better in terms of build quality, which surprised me.

i should add that although i liked it, i spent my money on a SportKA . but the 107 does 70mpg as opposed to the 35 i get in the KA.

Panda or 500 would get my vote.

I tried really really hard to kill my 1.2 panda by doing 25k in 18 months. 99% if the time i drove it flat out and it never ever complained.

We then used it to teach mrs donkey to drive.

And it can now be seen bouncing off solid things all over Glasgow as she uses it as her first car.

Over the past 34k it's cost me £220 to service and ive stuck two Goodyears on the front at a cost of £75. I was getting 50mpg out of it on my Gla - Dunf commute and mrs donkey is getting 38mpg in town.

It's now done 34k, it's absolutely indestructible and surprisingly good fun.

We even did an autotest in it

great idea i did it once in my old audi estate, it was a bit sh*t, but still fun when you overtake anybody

My mum has a 1.3 yaris and I love it! It's nippy enough round town with the vvc engine and it has great mpg too. She has a 52 plate and not had any issues with it, plus it has the tunnel to the digital dash display which is a novelty in itself!!

Victoria's Aygo (same as the 107 underneath) still holds the Sheffield to Perthshire record simply because it's so thrashable. The go-pedal gets mashed to the floor from the exit of one corner to the entry to the next for entire journeys (and still gives 45mpg). Same story on motorways; foot to the floor and leave it there! So much fun!

Has the 107 a rev counter Rob? If not you're maybe just not spanking it hard enough. The gears are tall and the red line is waaaaay up there beyond the noise and protestation. Give it some death, brake later and chuck it about a bit!

OK maybe I was being a bit harsh - i've only done 25 miles of motorway driving.
Expect a post on Monday about how to tell Enterprise I've rolled their 107..
