Help - alternative weekend plans needed!

Post by Andy G » Thu May 13, 2010 4:30 pm

Hi gents

Was meant to be taking my other half to Iceland for the weekend, as its her birthday (dont ask, she booked pre-volcanic erruption!)

Anyway, the twats have just phoned, after re-assuring her yesterday that everything was on, to cancel.

Now need alternative plans!

Some sound options so far, but wondered if anyone had any secret squirrel options up their sleeve?

cheers

If you're staying in Scotland, I tend to find somewhere with a few activities is a good shout.

Gleneagles? Nice suite, Dinner at Andrew Fairlie's, bit of shooting/riding (horses) the next day and a nice unwind in the spa?

If you fancy a decent drive, then a similar idea at Cameron House? See if they'll do you a last-minute deal on one of their lodges and get a chef to come out and cook you dinner. Not sure if they've got shooting etc however, but you can go to the Marina and charter a boat for the day to go around Loch Lomond. All I've ever done when up there in a lodge was get boozed and use the en-suite sauna

Dinner wise at Cameron House you've got Martin Wishart's there, so a decent bit of scran.

Other than that, I'm out. I'm a very dull person, as you well know.

Carnegieclub is quite a nice 'once in a lifetime' experience....you can only go once if not a member.......not cheap though......about £1000 per night!
I had lunch with Tim Henman, wife and friends when I was there a number of years ago. Normally a large dinner with all guests at night which was nice.
I would take her to Knockhill or something though.....http://www.knockhill.com.....

Hi,

The Duisdale looks great, and seems to solve the problem of where to take Lesley for her birthday next weekend. Afraid we'll be turning up it the old Volvo, not quite the style of the 430. Hope you have a great time and the weather is kind, and the midge's aren't around at this time of year.

Cheers
