Righto, more progress! Alan has had the head skimmed. At this point we would like to thank Stu160 for skimming the head, and very promptly too. Great service as usual, thanks Stu! :thumbsup (And apologies for my sis, she's a bit dim sometimes  ) Alan has also removed the valves to fit dual valve springs and titanium retainers. Some pics:

First set-back - Colins engine had a different degree of collets (sp?) than we expected, so ordered up a new set today. Anybody building a Honda engine, take note that the degree of collets is dependant on the year of engine manufacture. If you don't notice and fit the wrong size, you can expect dropped valves!

:thumbsup

Thanks for posting the updated pictures. Alan's weekend will be pretty busy... eh? What cams did you go with again?

Cheers,

Ken
When I did mine it was close but there was still some room.

I thought it looked quite tight but photos can be misleading.
There's not much clearance on mine but I believe it depends on whose conversion is used as the position and angle of the engine varies.
Now it's roadworthy again, I can drop by some time if you want to check any dimensions or take photos etc.

Cheers,

Brian

Hi Ken,
It won't fit in the 340R using Stark Mounts. The "Royal We" are modifying the bulkhead to get the better manifold in. Its a very easy modification in a 340R, due to the shape of the bulkhead. Making an folded alminium section in the middle, i'll post the pics.

Camshafts are from Clockwise Motion and are a hotter version of the JDM Cams.

When your building your Engine watch the Collet sizes, thank f*ck I checked Colin's. Build your valve with no spring then try and rock the retainer from side to side. If there is play you have the wrong degree of collet.

For everyones information, the RBC is a good 40mm bigger than the PRB (Standard) Manifold.

Looks like we have another Elise knowledge base on here with yourself Ken, which is always good news.

Tis always good to see Alan, Mike, etc, posting on their conversions or upgrades, together with detailed photos.
