Stopping Pad Chatter

Post by r10crw » Thu Jun 10, 2010 9:39 am

Ive had pat chatter in the past which can be a little annoying if your commuting and the pads are rattling constantly however Ive just fittted CL pads and the rattle is unbelievable. Its so bad that Im sure its compressing the pistons and when pressing the pedal there is considerable travel to take up the slack. When running with left foot on the brake they feel great. Ive fitted the retainers correctly but dont have anti squeel pads and the rotors are tru. Maybe they just need time to settle as Ive only done around 20 miles but with them rattling this much I dont believe they will bed in.
Any ideas?

Ruber buffers - from EP - will sort it, but you might have to take the pads out to clean them up properly prior to fit.

I have had some pretty noisy clatter off brake pads, usually settles down after a few hundred miles, never had problems with pads not bedding in properly.

I had a similar problem with my rear pads on the DC2, turned out 2 out of the 3 retaining clips were missing.....cheap fix after changing a few suspension bushes

Hi,

I fitted CL 4060RC5+ pads about 400 miles ago and if anything the chatter at slow speed seemed to be getting worse as time went on, Bought rubber buffers from EP and now total silence. Magic and it only took 20 minutes to fit.

Cheers

heres exactly the same stuff as EP supply but you can cut it to any size you want and there's loads more than needed to do top and bottom of caliper, as i needed to stop rc5+ rattling :thumbsup
