Wish I could help you Mark, but at least I can wish you good luck.
Hate to see friends in your position, all the ability to do the job, obviously otherwise you would not be an Elise owner and on here, but no job available.

Re: Can SE help you through the Credit Crunch?
Thanks for the kind words Tut, you're a true gentleman, means a lot mate! There really is nothing available in my field so after 18 months I have been appling for anything and everything recently but the problem with that is that there usually are folk with experience appling for the same positions, suxs but that's life at the moment with the construction industry on it's knees. I did a bit of labouring last year but that dried up at Christmas. Since then I have have a few homers and a bit of painting at a mate's house and some car valeting, oh and I sold a couple of cars and made a bit on that too so a mixed bag has kept the wolf from the door and I hope it will continue to do so.

You could try your hand at being a contract draffy up in Aberdeen. There is always jobs up here! You could probs afford to commute home for the weekend and still have plenty cash!I'm an ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN. Worked 3 years at CR Smith doing building warrents and planning permission applications in AutoCAD 2D along with some 3D Visuals using AutoDesk REVIT. I'm reasonably bright, a fast learner and could really turn my hand to most things. Oh and I have a great eye for detail if that helps??
I'm currently redundant and available for immediate start should anybody know of a suitable possition or anything at all actually as it's been a while now.
Thanks guys
Mark

RDH,
I know it's easy for an outsider to say but can you look at this as an opportunity, check the stats on new starts during a recession, the numbers explode. Can you look at goingon your own? A mix of pepper accounting and monthly fee'd book keeping.
Try offering cost effective book keeping for construction people or small business's, you prob know this already but it's amazing how many new starts just hand their accountants bags of receipts and payextra fees justto have them sorted.
I'm sure with some clever marketing (read free/cheap) you could set up a consistent cust base.
As above, I know it's easy for somebody else to say but try to look at this as an opportunity, best of luck whatever you do

Thanks Flip,
But I spent 5 years in practice trying to get away from "shoebox" accounts, it's not my thing! I do the odd one for friends and family, but can't see me doing it full time!
I've got a few months to find something more suitable, otherwise I'll pick up some project or contract jobs!
