Beginner track day
Beginner track day
Well as Flip flops post started,
I know there are quite a few people on here who ask when it is suitable to break their track virginity.
Most days with the elise lot are sensible and you could go out for your first time,
but i'm looking at a dedicated Beginner track night,
It would be roughly 2 hours in an evening, limited to 30 cars with 2 instructors on hand for them. Rule is maximum of 3 trackdays under your belt.
It wouldn't just be lotus, i've had interest from a few 350z owners as well and will keep asking about.
As stated in many threads Tracks are a safer place to push your car than on the road,
everyone is going the same direction, No Road furniture to hit and no speeding tickets.
Yes you could end up in the gravel if you are pushing beyond your limits, but you should know your limits when your a learner (the first time you got in a car i doubt you did 120mph sideways, thats cause you know you have a limit)
It would be nice as well if some track junkies could come down and pax with the new drivers to help them enjoy the right lines.
Unsure of price yet but ball park i believe would be around £100 per car
yes there are cheaper 2 hour sessions but they don't always have instructors and the level of driving will vary a lot, when this would be easier for keeping the level roughly around the same.
I have noticed a lot of interest on seloc about these down south so should we have one up here.
Ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers Adam

Re: Beginner track day
I would be bang up for this Rusty. Saw these on SELOC but couldnt justify the trip down south. As you say, great if some of the SE track warriors could be on hand to pass on some wisdom.

Re: Beginner track day
Definitely a great idea if we can get the numbers.
Tut Towers was my first track day and I learned loads from it but I think a beginner track day would be an excellent way to improve.
I gained a lot of confidence from my first track day but I was one of the slowest cars on track. I was constantly moving over to let cars past which wasn't good for them and meant that I couldn't focus on my own driving as much. Having said that, I guess it did give me a good appreciation of awareness of other cars.
Gary.

Re: Beginner track day
Looking like we could have good numbers,
Gary thats the exact reason i thought about it, You don't need to worry about holding up the super fast guys and ruining their fun, or not enjoying yourself by spending more time looking in the mirror.
If you have friends who you think may like it as well, let me know.
If i can get the numbers i'll happily sort it!

Re: Beginner track day
Good enough idea to get Erica to post.
I'd be interested, but have 4 or 5 under my belt. Maybe I can make up numbers if you're struggling?
I didn't vote so as to not skew your poll

Re: Beginner track day
cheers chris, if numbers are dwindling at 3 trackdays i may up it to 5.
Numbers are looking good so far, if it keeps this way looks like it may go ahead, got another 3 folk on top of this as well

Re: Beginner track day
Am thinking about inviting a close relative to this, driving my car, but not sure as yet so haven't voted officially.
Good initiative though...may just be a bit of a challenge to get the numbers you need to keep it at £100 a head.
I guess track "regulars" could consider whether spouses, friends, relatives etc might fancy a bash when otherwise they wouldn't have done? Kind of "SE Wives" thang?!?!

Re: Beginner track day
I know that there's quite a few of the girls on here haven't been back on track since the woman only track day a few years back - this would be a good opportunity for them to get some more track experience under their belts.

Dependant on dates, Elaine would undoubtedly be interested. Would just need someone else to pax with her, as she takes my advice as criticism, gets shirty and we end up falling out
