:o

Just found this, sounds like a horrible experience and you've done well to get yourself through it.

In 6 pages of reading / 10 minutes the change in emotion has been increadible (sitting at work too...!)

Really glad to hear good progress with movement and feeling in his hand and hope everything else turns out fine.

There has to be a better way to get out of doing Honda conversions though!

Another quick update:

He is looking much better today and his heart tests came back fine so he will be moving to ward 48 today. He's bored so wants people to go visit him so if you can, please do!! He's not moved yet but once he has I'll let you know! Visiting hours are 2.30-5 and 6.30-8.

Some bad news on the progress. Although he can clench his fist and move his fingers, he can't actually move his hand up and the Dr said it was because these nerves were too badly damaged. But he said hopefully they will repair themselves over time.

As you can imagine, we are both feeling quite deflated today, but so thankful he is still with us and still has his arm.

Thanks to Ali and Nic again and to Scotty for arrnging to pick up the rubbish that was taken out our en-suite and to Chris (big Cheese) for helping clear out our en-suite and washing up all the blood as I don't think I will manage to do that at the moment.

Sure you are feeling deflated now Jen -initially the adrenaline keeps you going and doing what you have too, when that wears off the reality of it all brings you back to earth with a bump.
Main thing is he came through it , hopefully with time the nerves will heal and Allan will make a full recovery.
Best wishes to you both

Well done to everyone that has helped out :thumbsup I can never find an extra minute in the day, but would like to think that if anything like this happened to anyone close to me I'd handle it the way you guys have.

Jen sorry to hear the news, sounds like good initial improvement, which will hopefully continue to a speedy recovery.

Keep positive it'll take a bit of time.

Hey everyone!!

Another update: Alan has now been moved to ward 48. Visiting hours are 2.30-5pm and 6.30-8pm. However, he is going back into surgery tomorrow to get his arm closed up and maybe a skin graft so most likely wont be able to see anyone in the afternoon but maybe in the evening.

I snuck in his Blackberry so he is now recieving texts and emails if anyone wants to contact him. The new ward is actually fine with his phone being on and with him. He may not reply straight away though as he is still quite weak but is improving everytime I see him. He has also read through this topic and is really touched by all your comments and well wishes. I'm sure he'll post up once hes got this op tomorrow out of the way and hes feeling a bit better.

Thanks again to Scotty C and Ali for uplifting our en-suite rubbish (and more!) and to Cheese for helping my father-in-law and brother-in-law cut out the blood stained carpet and clean the ensuite walls and floor. It really was a great help. :thumbsup

Im hoping for a better sleep tonight. I only managed what must have been 2 and a half hours last night, so I am knackered now!!!

Cheers again folks!! There really is nothing else like SE. What a place, I love you all!! :thumbsup :D

Jen
