Pre-owned DSSD or a Pre-Owned PVD monstrosity?

I like bargains too; doesn't mean I'd buy a pre-owned Kia because it was 70% off retail.

I was looking at a new watch for my 40th birthday gift from my wife....I seem to like the more expensive ranges of watches like this http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/seama ... n/22015000 but am quite fancying a MUFF Diver watch.....don't know why though :D

PS. If anyone can find me a new/not fake Planet Ocean for 1/2 price let me know?!?!?!? Fek me....some watches are dear!

I see Eddie Jordan & DC were sporting 'his-n-hers' TW Steel wrist jewellery today during the Monza Qualy coverage. I knew DC was a TW Steel 'brand ambassador' so would explain why he'd be wearing one. But, thought EJ could have afforded something a bit more in keeping with his bank balance.....wonder if they've given Eddie a wee back hander as well now?
DC's was a rose gold model (CEO?)... not sure if Eddie maybe had the new Spyker Canteen model..
I know they are just crappy quartz timepeices & not a watchy-persons watch.. but... I still think they look pretty.
In fact, I'd take one over something like a quarts Tag F1.... and I'm going to confess to having succumbed to the marketing, and have bought a Pilot F1 (Renault F1 edition)...

Less of the crappy, DC is simply catching up with my trend.

some advice needed!

Thinking of getting on of these..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-G-Shock-C ... B0039YOHVW

...but not sure. I'm not much of a watch expert, at the moment I don't wear one at all, but quite like the aviator style (Bell and Ross etc.) but can't justify spending a wedge. Would this be OK with a shirt and tie etc? Also, have oversized watches had their day? Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks

Stephen

Hi Steve
I am not a lover of Casio G Shock and I cannot for the life of me think that it would be suitable wrist candy when your dressed in shirt and tie?
At this price range I would be looking at a Seiko Monster with Orange Face ........or Black face.... if you are leaning towards a more conservative sports diver look.
This is supremely well made watch and bracelet with an automatic movement. (£130)

If you can budget a bit more, have a look at the Precista range of watches.

I cannot really comment on whether the current fad of massive watches will last?
Without knowing the size of your wrist , a case size of 38- 45ml inc crown is plenty .

If you want a big watch that is a bit more 'shirt and tie' try the TW Steele range - a bit more expensive than the G-Shock but certainly not as casual.

I'd second H8OAG
Bracelet & case is well put together and a good buy in that price range IMO.

Alternatively, on page 43 of this thread you'll see pics of my Seiko Neo Monster (as I wanted a white face). Whilst not a Black/Orange Monster and lacking a cult following, it's the same movement & similar bracelet... but only rated to 100m due to the display rear case & lack of screw down crown.
You can get them in orange or black as well...
I see they also do a black cased stainless model, although not to my taste & not sure how hard wearing that coating would be:-

If you go down the TW Steel route... they don't all have to be massive. They do many of their styles in either 45mm or 48mm. If the reason you were looking at that G-Shock was because you wanted a Chrono (which the Seiko Monster lacks).. then how about something like this:-
http://www.twsteeluk.com/store/104-tw672.html

Or, if you've got the wrist to pull off a 48mm (which I don't)... this one is a pretty good buy at 50% off:-

Thanks for the advice guys. Much appreciated. I really just like the Bell and Ross esq aviator style and thought the GShock might be a good comprimise. The TW Steel looks a good option and have the desired look and feel. It's a minefield! Think I might just stick to checking the time on the Blackberry and buy some brake pads instead!

Cheers

Stephen

I like this Citizen one - cheap enough not to worry about it too much and no more batteries :D They do a metal strap version as well.
