Very nice, but i want a rubber strap, chrono (needs to time sub 8 min laps  ) and i really dont want to spend more then £500. I dont really look after my watches (well any of my toys) so a very nice watch is a wasted on me.

i do like these Image

If i had the money Image

I've just recently changed the strap to a nice black leather one.

Doesn't need batteries, waterproof and clear time and date, very happy with it, and I bought it in the Livingston outlet centre so was a lot less than the one in the link. :)

To avoid UK customs - i was thinking of shipping it to my mates dads house in Florida & getting him to bring it back next time he's back int he UK
Doing it this Way, i should save approx £950 !

Guys - just back from my 3 week trip to Australia - via Hong Kong / OZ / Singapore.
I had my eye of a Tag Carerra - as aboves link, but I spotted & tried on the Carrera "Day Date" model. (£850 more expensive! - UK RRP)
I liked the black face with silver bracelet style, but my wife didnt like it.
We both saw the white face & black leather strap & we both liked it. .......... so I bought it !

I saved about £820 on the UK RRP which was pretty good and the shop manager gave me the Tag Heuer 150yr Anniversary book for nothing to sweeten the deal!
She was selling this for about £100

Hong Kong & Sydney were both more expensive than the UK for watches - including discounts & claiming back tourist taxes.

and if you havent seen my Celebrity Spot thread when I was claiming the tourist tax back ..... here it is ... http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =2&t=27461

Just a heads up guys,

this months gq magazine has their annual watch feature magazine out. Some nice eye candy.

One question for the buffs, both this and watches of Switzerland yearly mags have neglected the Cartier santos 100 which I would have said was becoming a celeb watch of choice. Surely If it's seen frequently on tv it would be good marketing to have it showing. It could be that I only notice that watch because I like it tho and it's not really a good seller?

If you want a watch because certain celebs wear them ......fine !!
The product placement of Cartier is rife in Hello Magazine where the "celebs" are not only dressed but loaned watches for the photoshoots
I would venture that is why the Santos has been omitted from your aforementioned awards
IMHO you cannot go wrong with the following:-
A Rolex sports watch
A Panerai
An IWC PIlot or similar

Its a pretty specialised market, vintage is Pete. Ebay could be decent, but it all depends on how well you can describe it to make sure it gets on the right collector's radar.

I'd guess a wee post here might get you a little help:-
