Bad idea.... I did the very same in 1999 as the lawyer seemed unhelpful, I got a year ban and £400 fine

Seems your solicitor thinks you're fcuked....... must be pretty good evidence against you. I take it he's recommending a guilty plea? If you plead guilty at the first two trial diets, you'll get fcuked....... but not half as fcuked as you'll be if you get found guilty afer a trial.

I'd get a second opinion from a traffic law specialist (they do exist)

PM if you need any other advice

Sorry to hear that mate.

2 bits of advice
- you get a better deal if there is a plea (or there is meant to be).
- don't defend yourself, it will all go wrong.

Noops, I am sensing that which ever way it goes there may be a ban on the cards so you should be working on the strategy to limit the damage - self employed, damage to business in current climate, family relies on you etc etc
I hope it doesn't come to that but better to have your solicitor primed in case.
Fingers crossed.

The Boss got done for drink driving 15-20 years ago and used the 20 guys rely on me being able to visit customers, deliver jobs etc if I loose my licence they will be out of work etc etc.

he got off with a massive fine (got off is maybe not the right words but he didn't get banned)

Thought I was getting done for no insurance last week , was an oversight on my part (new car, long story). I have 7 points and spoke to my solictor last week . We talked about "exceptional hardship" ie needing licence for work/house etc. He explained that more and more people are claiming exceptional hardship, the judges are getting wise to it and not so willing to grant it . I claimed that I would lose my job and in turn my property , even at this my solictor wasnt confident we would be granted it .

He told me of one particular client who claimed he was the only guy in britain who could do his job . Turns out there where 40 other folk doing his job in britain and he is now looking at a perjury charge(possible jail) for trying to pull the wool over the courts eyes, so word of warning be careful m8 !

Anyway turns out I was insured by total flook. Lucky boy.

Noops

Does your solicitor specialise in traffic law? there is a great difference between them and normal solicitors...

Close one.for you........,

Of course the personal hardship one is something I have to consider along with everything else. I'm in the middle of a hard recession the same as the next man. It would/will be a lot less safe for the general public if I were to use public transport, taxies etc to ferry extremly toxic substances,dead/live animals, firerarms, dogs the list goes on in the day to day life of a rural pestcontroler.

Example , Ed here on SE joined me one evening out shooting doing work for a local farmer when I was called out to dispatch roedeer for the traffic cops a coulpe of years ago although not unusuall to me its not the everyday thing for joe public.. I'm sure we will see on Wedensday 10am.

3 years ago, I got done for speeding on the A1.
Basically, they were hiding up a lane at the round a bout at Dunbar.
I approached the roundabout in a hire car & went round it with the tyres screeching ...........
so they followed me (i didnt notice)
3 miles up the road they done me for 95mph in a 70.
I was doing 1mph over the "fixed penalty" they could issue - so it went to Haddington fiscal.
2 months later I got a summonds thro the post - I pleaded guilty.
then a week later they sent me the outcome of the hearing.......... £350 fine & 4 points.

I would have got a smaller fine if I hit an old lady over the head with an iron bar & stole her handbag.

I have to meet the solisitor first thing on Wedensday morning at the PF office to go back over the police tape etc before coart. It would seem the pf will exept nothing less than DD which is a fine, ban and resit anything less will be a result..........
