Shame, we've got a cracking two year old dog but he's very strong and very dog aggresive - would love to see him go to a good home (where he doesn't encounter other dogs on a regular basis)

Blue is a Cane Corso bitch around 4 year old who we adopted 1.5 years ago she had been badly starved and beaten, now she's just a big soft lump. Was about 20 kilos when she went into rescue and is now about 47 kilos.

Elwood is also a Cane Corso that we got from the breed rescue in the British Cane Corso Society.

Poor lad has had a bad life, he has spent the 1st 6 months of his short life in a kitchen and being used as a punchbag and an ashtray, he's got lots of burn marks all over him.

And in case you don't know who I am, the name's Helen and I married Paul earlier this year :)

Firstly welcome Helen!
:welcome
Ah those are the Italian dogs arent they, I always thought they had pricked up ears for some reason? :?
Its such a shame what these poor animals go through!
Unfortunately most of these dogs are bought as guard dogs or status symbols I would imagine!
And the whole mentality of the sort of people who buy for this is where the problem arises.
Im involved with a shar-pei group and some of the stories which come up in this breed too are heartbreaking.

Yes these are the Italian ones, they usually have cropped ears and docked tails but regulations have changed and you find a lot more floppy eared, long tailed ones now.

People see them as a status symbol, muscle dog. Although they came be with the right training they're more likely to cuddle you than bite.

This litter had been bred by a couple of drug users who saw selling corso's at £1000 a pup an easy way to get money, unfortunately the whole litter had health problems which meant no one would buy so they were useless and treated as such.

Anyone interested in learning more can go to http://www.thefocc.com for the forum or http://www.canecorso.org.uk for the breed site :D
