Not much of a story - the road was uphill in bright sunlight with a dogleg into a shaded section - in my mind I connected the two bright sections together and didn't read the blind & shaded left hand bend ahead; worse I was on the wrong side of the road due to cutting a (shallow) corner 2-3 seconds ago. Ross (Fluoxetine) spotted the blind/shaded bit and mentioned it to me; I lifted off and pulled the wheel to the right to tuck the car back onto my side of the road, but it was asking more of the tyres/tarmac than was easy; I got a small amount of opposite lock on, but not nearly enough; once we reached 90 degrees I told Ross that we were going into the barriers, which we promptly did. Hence the damage on the side you can see in the picture - the car came to a rest 180 degrees rotated from where it started, and took a length or two or armco with it.Mr Momo wrote:shooooz !
Robin - is there a story somewhere that explains the car incident ?
Lessons learned:
(1) Don't drive like a cock.
(2) Don't cut corners, even if the road does appear to be clear.
(3) When you lift off the throttle and steer at the same time, get ready to catch the spin.
Although it was quite an event it didn't spoil my trip at all - I had a whale of a time being chauffeured by Gil (who is properly mad) and we flew home from Bilbao instead of having to take the day and a half on the boat to Plymouth or wherever ....
Cheers,
Robin
