Paint removal (dulux !)

Even although I moved the cars away from the house I have a lots of tiny dulux weathershield paint spots on both the car bonnets after doing some house exterior wood painting. Paint is a non water soluble one.

What is the best way to remove the spots ?

Don't know - but if you find a solution let me know we have a Corsa that has had white paint specs on blue bodywork for a couple of years and still can't shift them

Start with Meths.

Resort to White Spirit or Benzene only in desperation *.

I also have a tin of weird spirits from one of our resident bodywork experts, it's called Teroson Cleaner & Diluent, smells mental and has traces of benzene so presumably pretty nasty stuff

Used it to good effect to remove silicone sealant and tar from the Elise bodywork, with zero ill effects.

Prob a trade-only product though.

Once it's dried I don't think you'll have much luck in getting it removed with solvents.

Given that it's technically sitting on the surface of the car's paint work I would use a mild rubbing compound such as T-Cut, if this doesn't work then it will be a job for a profesional and most likely a machine polish.

Give it a good wash then get yourself a clay bar kit from halfords, you will find that takes a lot of it off.
A Product like tardis from Autosmart may also help, really works when breaking down things like paint....
t-cut is quite harsh on modern paints, only use it if your going to follow up with a good sealant etc

Then move to clay - an aggressive one like the Gloss It aggressive would be ideal. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... y-bar.html This, worked carefully and for long enough, should remove it. After that it's machine polishing time.

Don't, please don't use T-Cut. It won't break down (eg, the abrasives will just stay the same, even after being worked) it will remove lots of paint and it will micromar the finish, requiring a follow-up polish.

Cheers thanks for advice and wisdom.
Bought a clay bar last week and gave it a go today on some trial patches and it works slowly taking off almost all the spots. Will try some tardis for the more stubborn bigger spots.

Been too busy over the last week enjoying myself on holiday in Castle Douglas and having some fun runs in the Elise to use the clay bar before today.

Will probably give you guys at polished bliss a ring next week and buy some polish as have been looking at your website over the past month.
