Bean spillage: new car.

Post by The_Rossatron » Wed Oct 27, 2010 2:02 pm

As requested by Mr Rolfe I'm spilling the beans about the replacement for my 993. A 1997 Ferrari F355 Berlinetta.

I sent a cheeky email to a dealer south of London offering up my 993 in part exchange for the red beast and got an offer I just couldn't refuse (hefty amount more than I paid for it two years ago!)

I drove the 993 down to London and picked up the F355. I was dreading bringing the F355 back through the M25 but it was faultless and very easy to drive in traffic. The AC was inoperable which was a shame as it was a big drive and during the fairly warm period we had in September, also after the fiasco I had trying to get my AC to work in the 993 (still doesn't work) I was worried it was going to be £££ to fix.

Got a mate to test the pressure in the AC system and found it to be extremely low but still holding so thought it was a good sign. Did the unthinkable by taking it to Kwik Fit for a regas, they didn't have the car in the system but I gave them the details they needed. They regassed it but the guy said my AC condensor fan wasn't kicking in so said there would be no charge. We checked the fuse for the AC fan and it was blown, replaced it and now have icy cold AC. So the big bill turned out to be £0.00.

Anyway, here she is.

Superb job mate!! Very muchly impressed - you're ticking your way through my 'must own' list! 8)

Really hope it turns out to be an affordable supercar for you - and kudos for taking the beast to Kwik Fit (something I always swore I would do if I owned one, just to see their faces)

More on the spec please :)

I had my 993 Turbo in at KwikFit for a puncture repair. All the boys wanted a seat in it, and they fixed the puncture free of charge!

Agreed! I remember when you came to sell yours wishing that I could have taken it off your hands!

Here's hoping Greg. The suspension warning light came on which turned out to be a couple of tiny cogs had split, £20 each for their replacements so it wasn't the end of the world. Thanks Internet!!

As far as spec goes when I picked it up it was completely standard down to the original factory casette stereo, toolkit etc. and is in the rosso corsa / crema hide combo that I'd wanted since before I can even remember. Although I fitted a nouvarali exhaust which I'm having a love/hate relationship with right now. Might consider a capristo, although it's a lot of money for something you can't "try on". It's also a 5.2 motronic. It was originally a Jersey car and I just tipped it over 30,000 miles.

and holy sh*t is fuel economy horrendous! :blackeye

p.s Had my 993 into kwik fit as well for a puncture repair and received no such special treatment!

Still have the Mini Jamie! It's my daily driver. I think I need some sort of mental help.

I am with you there. Gorgeous car, so much better looking than the 360 which followed it, but that airbagged wheel is truly hideous. Sod the originality, a nice Momo Corse would make a stunning car absolutely perfect :thumbsup

8) No matter how capable a Porsche is I still can't class it as a supercar. That however is a true Supercar. :thumbsup
