Yeah that was started by me..

It's by no means an Ali bashing thread at all, I really like Ali and want to give him the work hence the constant contact. But I really have been trying to get hold of him for a LONG time now. At least 20 calls, quite a few voicemails now and a handful of texts and I have not heard anything back from him.

I would never post something to cause trouble or put a business down, I'm just hoping he picks up the phone that's all.. I'm sure if Ali read this he would be the first to tell you he has not returned my calls yet. Purely factual from my end.

:cheers though

The worrying part is, particularly with many a Lotus going abroad, that customer base will slowly dwindle. I would consider myself a loyal customer, use him all the time and we get on well. Just find it difficult to get in contact and that drives me to other sources!

Politics aside, it sounds like Ali is doing himself a dis-service here?

I don't think any of the posts are malicious, but there is obviously some degree of frustration involved. I have never met Ali personally, nor do I doubt his expertise from what I hear, but having read so many anxious posts would put me off using him, which is a shame. (The same was true historically with Murrays, until they sorted their act out.) Like most, I'm happy to pay a decent amount for a decent service. If it's local-ish, so much the better.

If you run your own small business, it's a fact that customer care matters, especially in niche markets. I find I get a surprising amount of my own business through word of mouth. I also used to struggle with boring 'admin stuff' like this, so took someone on for a few hours a week and it paid for itself many times over.

Surely a leggy young admin assistant would make all the difference? Just a thought/hope/prayer...

Idsay that sums it up pretty well... I've stopped using him as I don't have the time to fcuk about and continually chase him.
Not saying I won't ever use him again, but I've found other people to be slicker and more customer service focussed.

Regardless of foz chasing or not 15 months is pretty sloppy in anyones book.

Ali's a top nice bloke and I'd hate to see him out of business as that would make dan or mmc put their prices up! ;)

I am a partner in a small business myself, and being small or a one man band is just absolutely no excuse for poor customer service or lack of communication. Quite the reverse in fact - you have to be extra good to give the client confidence to use you again, all the more so if, like my company, you are in a niche market where reputation really counts. There is a small garage which started up last year in the complex where I work who show how it should be done http://www.wrightautomotive.co.uk/ . Just two of them, young guys, but they are very professional in booking the car in and keeping you informed. They have a clean, well set up garage, in a decent location, and there is just an air about them that inspires confidence. It would be good if there was a Scottish indy Lotus specialist with a similar level of professionalism.

Shame they don't specialise in Loti - if the pics are anything to go by it looks a nice wee place!
