Hi...
I have been told I need to get my heater actuator replaced. The dude hasn't quoted me a price yet but has told me it will take about 2-3 hours to do and will be a clam off job becoz I have AC and the actuator is hard to get to.
How much should I be looking to pay to get it replaced? Has anyone else had to replace theirs?
Thanks....

Re: heater actuator replacement
According to this guide in Seloc, £45 for the actuator:
http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Heater_Actuator_Replacement
Mine is an early s2 (non air-con) but I'm after the cut-off for having the manual temp control so have the actuator. It's never worked on mine so when the clam was off having the fan speed resistor pack replaced I asked about having this done at the same time.
The cost was prohibitive so I left it. My memory's hazy but I might have been told the whole heater unit needed to be swapped at a cost of ~£300. Not sure now why that would be the case as the guide indicates the actuator alone can be changed.

Re: heater actuator replacement
Bit of a bitch of a job tbh, clam off then heater plumbing, aircon connections (hence regass). Think lot$ of hours I'm afraid.
I've heard they do get stuck and fail, often due to dirt and debris...but your car is relatively new? Has the dash side been checked?
I had an intermittent problem on mine but found a loose multiconnector (with a dodgy clip). I can only assume it had been like that from the factory and had taken this long to vibrate loose.
It's just 2 screws to take the dash panel off to check...
