Phil, if you haven't bitten the bullet yet, try out iRacing on your PC. Like GPL but so much better. The MX5 is great fun racing online. Now also has last years Williams FW31 :thumbsup Loads of US racing drivers race regularly YouTube CLICKY

I'm an xbox gamer which colours my opinion and limits the value of my comments however.........my mate has always been a PS gamer and has waited patiently for this.

Last week at the alloted time he collected his copy sat down to play and then dreaded me turning up at the back of 8. Why, because he had quickly realised that the full game was no different to Prologue only bigger.

I turned up hoping it would be everything to all men so as to push forward the development of driving games, sadly this wasn't the case.

Don't quite know what it is that makes GT5 and Forza 3 so different. Whether it is the simulation side of GT which gets in the way of it being FUN or whether the dynamics are flawed, but played back to back with Forza it is lacking something. Not visually because the premium cars and the environment look stunning but enjoyment is lacking, too challenging, maybe.

Referring to the Elises TG challenge in particular. If you've ever played Forza the standard setup for all the cars is suspect. Most have balloons for tyres and the Elise in particular suffers from this causing it to have no grip. Adjust the tyre pressures down and you can dial in under/oversteer but most importantly the graphics, and feedback from the wheel, allow you to collect the car without having to have a second sense. The TG challenge is, with my limited ability and a controller, almost undriveable and just too unrealistic, when did an Elise ever have so little grip, and although I've never driven a 111R can you really power slide in 2nd and 3rd like that?.

I read somewhere about Forza's ability to simulate tyre deformation and use this to determine levels of grip, not sure if this is the difference but something works, there is a communication with the car which GT5 doesn't have. Only played for about 3hrs so more may help, I'll carry on playing it at my mates but it isn't the game I'd hoped for.

This is not fanboyism.................if you've played both where do you think the differences lie?

I have to say that despite many short comings (I want the 10 minutes from the TopGear Camper van race back), the handling is pretty good and certainly miles better than prologue IMO after playing that to death. Having played so far with the sticks, this game is really design for a steering wheel. Trying to input the delecate movements required with sticks is pretty hard. Enjoying it so far though. But ultimately Forza is an amazing game too, but obviously xbox only.

I'm loving this game. Just bought a wheel and had a go with my s1 elise with medium racing tyres on the London circuit and it was immense. The wheel felt just like how it does in real life, and I'm not exaggerating. I couldn't stop grinning.

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/store ... G+FORCE+GT

Amazon are selling it for £140.

First go it was weird getting used to the force feedback, but now I'm used to it I can't stop playing. Apart from when the soaps are on

Cheers Mainsy,

Might just have to extend my christmas list.
But I already have this on order http://www.astrogaming.co.uk/products.asp?id=2789 Turns any set of head phones in to 5.1/7.1 surround sound from an optical out. Flat is not suitable for a full speaker setup, so this is the best compromise I have found for CoD and Blu-rays, ships the 6th, can't wait.

Having played both, I'd say Forza has better car dynamics than the GT5. The way oversteer and understeer are simulated and how you can control them are closer to real cars. The times achievable on some tracks I've tried (e.g. full Tsukuba) are more realistic in Forza (i.e. 111R in GT5 is faster than 240R Exige in Forza :damnfunny).

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.
