Campbell DO NOT drive around on unfurbished wheels, or else you will be pulled.

Re: Wheel refurb
Campbell, I would be interested to hear how you get on as I will need to get alloys refurbed too ( non Lotus) and might get the Lotus wheels done to change the colour if I am feeling flush too

Back in the days of my 206 and being interested in modifying, most people used chameleon metal coatings as they were the place to go. Can't really make comment though as I have had no experience.

Re: Wheel refurb
I used Powedertec, just off of Paisley Road near the Kingston bridge. Really friendly service and I am very happy with the finished result. I had my S1 AWI wheels refurbed and powdercoated to Satin Black (they have a large choice of colours) and it was £260 (in June 2010) for a 1 day service. Dropped the car off at 8am and picked it up at 6pm. I think its a bit cheaper if you deliver the wheels without the tyres. No problems with jacking the car etc as they have done a few. Would happily recommend them!

Re: Wheel refurb
I did not have a good experience of powdertech. Further to recommendations from here, I took my Golf there to get an alloy refurbed; asked for it to be powder coated. They decided just to paint it; got it back and did not match the other wheels on the car (I was not expecting perfection but this was way off).

Carrick? I've used them before too, but its a bit of trek and I'd be stuck there while they were doing the work.BiggestNizzy wrote:Only place I know is prestwick, they did a good job of my wheels.

Re: Wheel refurb
I had no complaint about the colouring from them, my main issue was the laughably bad wheel weights that the wheels came back on. Had to get them all balanced again afterwards.Dominic wrote:I did not have a good experience of powdertech. Not a major issue but annoying none the less.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

Re: Wheel refurb
Campbell, although I normally use PPS at Inverurie, for my last set I sent them to the firm that advertises on eBay, not the cheapest probably at £240 inclusive, but the returned set were like new, and they are delivered by Courier in four boxes, which you then send back your set in within 14 days by the same courier.

Re: Wheel refurb
A few of my mates have used Central Powder Coating in East Kilbride with good results, £30 a wheel i think including removing and fitting the tyre. Not sure about balancing however.
If you wanted you could use my spare wheels while yours are being done to keep you on the road
