I fitted my new 2bular exhaust over the xmas period and the car now sounds like it should. I'm now looking for an induction kit that will give me a better noise through acceleration. Been looking at K&N apollo, pipercross and itg. The itg gets mixed reviews on the forums i've been on, most people saying it's too expensive.
Does anyone on here have an induction kit fitted to the SC toyota engine? Any recommendations?
Also, an additional recommendation for Jim at 2bular...customer service was excellent. He went all out to make sure I got the exhaust when I needed it and such a quality product. IMO Lotus should commission him to have all there cars with 2bular exhaust system
Induction kit
Re: Induction kit
hi caveman,
i fitted the TRD high flow box to my exige n/a . i believe they fit them to the 240 cup versions. its alot cheaper than the others. i bought mine from Bell & Colville online.....if i remember the filter was about £50 and the back box and adapter was around £25. Not too difficult to fit and i have had no CEL light or any problems with it since fitted. The VSV is disabled and removed. i did wonder if this would be a problem........the electrical connector is still in the engine bay but i have zip tied it safely a way and put some tap over the end to stop and water or dirt that may interfere.
there are noticeable sound changes...like a darth vador hiss at start up then it fades. Then you also get it when you switch off.......also, i get a deeper note when under hard acceleration. Not sure if you would hear this with your super charger whine?
the reason i went for this was because it uses the original MAF end of the box, plus it’s a manufactors induction so, i figured it will be better engineered and tested. i have done a lot of reading on the other induction kits and like you heard that the CEL light would come on, plus seal problems with the MAF sensor and that the adapter tube was not the right size...etc...etc.
About performance increases, i really don’t know....i think to gain any of the potential from the induction upgraded you would need to carefully tune the ECU...even on doing this i suspect you would only gain 2-3 hp......
Anyway, hope any of this is useful for when you make your decision.....the more experienced SE’s will be along soon to add more info...

Re: Induction kit
Can't comment on the ITG kit for the Toyota engined car, but on the K powered elise you I can't hear the induction "roar" over the sound of the exhaust. Maybe if the intake was on the drivers side you might be able to hear it?

Re: Induction kit
As said you have to be careful with induction kits and the toyota cars especially the SC. On top of this because of the SC you will never get the same deep induction roar that you can get from NA, sorry
You just have to change the charger pulley and enjoy the charger screaming

Re: Induction kit
Thanks for the info guys. Would worry of getting to much of a whine from the supercharger when switching to an induction kit. Some of the whine is now drowned out by the sound of the 2Bular, which I don't mind.
I might try calling bell and colville to find out some more info on the TRD...I'll post some videos of pre 2bular, post 2bular and post induction kit when i decide what to do
Thanks again
