Trackday Tuition: Knockhill 5th February
Re: Trackday Tuition: Knockhill 5th February
When the event was first posted there was an option to go for tuiton with a guy called 'Hamish' at a cost of £25 for a 30 min session. I suspect all of those sessions are gone, hence this option has disappeared. Not really sure as have only ever done an SIDC day before so am a definate track novice. fully intend to rectify that this year.
If you have trawl through Youtube using 'trackscotland' or 'Fee Knockhill' you will get some incar footage from one of the organisers (FK). You will see the kit circulating KH. It is a fair assortment from what look like regular road cars through to extremely quick motors. All appears to be behaving ontrack, unlike some of the other KH incar footage I have seen. 'Knockhill screamer' footage comes to mind.....

Cheers Martin,
My wife is looking to do some track days, but is keen to get some tuition in first, before she ventures out amongst the trackday regulars.

SIDC - every day of the week mate.
John always puts on an instructor and the etiquette is usually so good it's almost embarrassing...

From my experience the ts trackdays are just as well run as sidc, ok the instructor is not included in the price, but the price is a little less. The etiquette is pretty good on track, especially considering the wide range of cars that go! We had hamish smart as an instructor that you can pay for in November, he is an ARDS instructor but I think he only comes if he has enough people to make it worth his while.
I'm hoping to get in plenty sidc's and ts days this year!

the tuition is ontop of the trackday, you needed to book on the trackday and then book the tuition is required. There is/was a thread for the trackday

oh, didnt see page two before I posted.
Yup, went well. 1 or 2 folk that could have moved over sooner or left a bit more space but on the whole a great day.
A couple of reds but very short ones. Good for the slippy conditions

Have to agree that was in general a great day but there was one who forced past when they should not.
I was also the reason for the last 'red'. Sorry.
As with all such incidents it was not my fault.
Driver excuse number 18. Moved over on the start/finish straight in the rain to let aforemention car who forced past earlier through as we are passing the pit exit. He was followed by a friend. I was offline and in 2nd not third, accelerated while rounding turn 1 when the pesky Toyota cam changed and sent me in a bonny spin down the hill and into the kitty litter. No damage done other than a steering wobble which turned out to be superglue KH mud on the OS front wheel.
Will be back, but next time when in the wet will be a little more careful...
