Elise S1, I can testify.

But apparently that was ruled out.

The S1 elise is NOT comfy on long distances for FF. It can be 35-40 degrees and there is no break for 10 days, hence why Ed wants Aircon.
True, but i would happily do it again in a S1...ahh the memories :D

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

OK so I took Shoomer's sentence literally, and not in the full banzai spirit of FF. But we have run our Elise all over Europe and the mountains and only one leg of those looong trips ever stands out as "hard work" - that was Montpelier to Monaco in one blast along the autoroutes in 1999. Stepped out like drowned rats (had the hood on for a lot of it for shade...would've been toasted lobsters without!).

Given all the variables and aspects in the mix, there are going to have to be trade-offs somewhere.

I think it just says a lot that an Elise is capable of doing all those things as a package and whilst lack of AC might be considered a disaster, my experience is that it's not. But we are all different :-)

What do I know, though, eh. I'm just an envious onlooker 8)

It wears you down eventually. Its obviously not impossible, as plenty of people prove, but i would much prefer to do it in something with aircon this year like ed.

I did a frolic (cant remember which year now, they all blend together) where every day was like that. Its tiring.

You are losing your mojo Neil. I'm appalled.

Anyway, that latest point of yours is very helpful. I am no longer interested in doing a Frolic. Ever. They sound like such a chore.

indeed :damnfunny

Lifes tough when you've got to decide which car to buy to do frolic in :thumbsup

If he has a/c he'll be everyones best mate at lunch time on circuit, and for some genuine cool down laps :D

I'll no doubt be regretting taking the R400 and get toasted :damnfunny As if :thumbsup

Although, if we come south in the flying spur..............

Not sure I totally agree. It may be a bit toasty when sitting in traffic... but on the long distance bits... I actually think an S1 is one of the comfiest places to be. The seats hold you in place so your back doesn't get tired and you're able to put your legs straight out in front and stretch them too (if you're not an ape !).

I'd honestly rather be in an S1 for the long drives on FF than most other things (other than a GT3 or similar obviously!!)

Plus... part of the fun of FF for me is getting toasted in the car with the roof off. It's not like you get many opportunities for that kind of thing in this country

Probably not the most proffecient on the track (and you will definitely need another set of tyres if you want to have real fun) but what about:

Jag XKR Convertible

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2258136.htm Supercharged and only 36k miles

But Ed, be aware if you get one, Gem will need a have a blue rinse

given the current XKR isnt that prolific on the road, let alone the track, this could be a good comedy FF choice :thumbsup
