Service Options
Re: Service Options
Could there be a thread/section where people could post up work they need done and then people could pm them quotes/offers?
I'm not thinking servicing so much as people getting other work such as needing a joiner/roofer/sparky, they could post up and then people could get in touch if they can offer the service.

No reason why it couldn't cover B2B enquiries as well.

Sorry for dragging this more off topic!

And so could my beloved employer...someone hold our coats while we slug it out?...ta!!Peter wrote:Hi, i agree with the above and can offer help with any major IT outsourcing programmes you may be working on.. Doh!

I had a wee think about business refs in sigs, and had previously thought not to encourage it, but nor to get heavy on outlawing it either. The ideas above are certainly interesting...I wonder if a wee poll could be constructed, where we could harvest the views of SE members (as consumers, providers or indeed both) and see what the consensus was on how to approach this. Or is this far too diplomatic and far removed from the Liberal Dictatorship which Robin previously observed we are running here

Or leave things as they are as it works fine

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).![]()

Broadly, yes I think it does.Mike Scib wrote:Or leave things as they are as it works fine
But every so often we have a small disturbance in The Force and sometimes these things can escalate a bit.
So it can be A Good Thing to "check-in" to where we are at in our evolution and consider if the way we've done things is still applicable.
The answer may well be "yes, please continue as you were", but if it's not, then I think it's a lot more valuable to know promptly, and do something about it.
It's been nearly 12 years, after all

j2 lot wrote:The 'Can Se help you through the recession' thread which was kicked of by Dom allows individuals to post up what they do and advertise their business. Something similar as a sticky would give a readily available list of contacts for services which may be of use- as long as it is left uncluttered with 'can you' or 'I used/ recomend' then it serves as an ongoing ad board without cluttering other threads.

My thoughts too.Mike Scib wrote:Or leave things as they are as it works fine
One of the other forums I haunt has ended up so far up its own bottom with rules and regulations that there are as many posts discussing the strife than there are the cars. I have always thought of SE as an internet sanctuary where folk sort of knew where to draw the line and if they didn't they would either be guided enough so that the fitted in, or they would decide they would rather be elsewhere.

Re: Service Options
Thanks for all the replies guys - although seems to of opened up a can of worms
Anywhere further than Edinburgh is probably a bit far for me but useful to know for the futre.
Will probably end up going with MMC or SLS depending on timescales etc as timing for me might be tricky.
Cheers,
Mike.
