What are you painting? If you mean thhe threads, I have plenty of duralac.

Thanks to Nizzy and Woody.

Door opens. Door closes.

And thanks to wherever I read (SELOC tech wiki I think) to mark the brackets I was taking off with marker pen because it still seems to line up...

Only the clam to put back on now. Now where did I put all those screws?

This is better than the soaps, Pete.

I found myself worrying about your car door in a spare moment at work yesterday

I've been told I'm not to talk about it anymore at work. Apparently it's my own stupid fault for buying a used car, and I only took it apart so I could talk about taking it apart.

To be fair to my boss there is an element of truth in that.

(My boss has quite a list of things people aren't allowed to talk about - pets; children; whether it is better to have wings or be invisible etc).

Car door monologues might not be everyone's cup of tea, but invisibility? That's harsh. :?

:D

In the recent "Which character would you be in Blackadder" discussion (also now on the banned conversation list) he was General Melchett. He has now changed his Facebook picture to this*, so pleased was he. Just to paint a fuller picture.

*OK technically I changed his picture when he wasn't looking but he didn't change it back and the simile was met with widespread recognition.

Straight over my head that last one. No movement in the door, although I accidentally used one of the old steel bushes I doubt there is any wear in them. (And I couldn't be arsed taking the bottom bolt out again with an Allen key). Clam on on Thursday I hope.

Oh this is such a sh.it thread compared with, well any of the others. I want you to bear in mind I am about as mechanically competent as someone from a PG Wodehouse novel.

THE CLAM is back on!!!! Now it does touch the windscreen around the wiper motor (is that bad???) but otherwise the panel fit is as good or better than it was The door opens and closes. The marvellous Mr N came and sank a tap into the damaged bolt hole (not me-it was whoever did it last time). They obviously crossed the bolt and just left it. Hopefully that bolt being tight means the clam should rattle less.

If the clam touches the screen there is a high risk it will break the screen
