A new one from Eliseparts is only 35+VAT+Shipping and I would think that the local motor factors or MMC ought to be able to supply one at around the same money. It cannot be worth buying an old one (who knows, it might be full of water too!!).

Cheers,
Robin
 That was the top google shopping link for the part...

I'm too eager to get it fixed to wait on postage so swinging by the motorfactors this evening! :thumbsup

Pretty sure you've suggested them before and somebody tried, to be told they couldn't - reasonably sure.

Although my memory's not what it used to be...

A few years ago - the bloke who worked in a similar place in Glasgow told me a story that he had just clocked an 11 month old Merc SL55 AMG
From 40,000 miles to 9,000 miles !
Car was going in the following week for its first service.
Owner was moaning cause he charged him £500 for doing it.
His reply was "I've just added £10,000 to the value of your car!"

I bet you there are horror stories out there - maybe best not to know ....

David
Two negatives make a positive but only in Scotland do two positives make a negative - 'Aye right.'

S2 Exige
BMW 435d M Sport - 375bhp..... and stops now (big brakes!😁)
Work Horse - Ford Transit - Full of crap spec....... 170bhp one :-)

My local motor factors and Murrays don't have stock of any MFRU's so had to order it online, got a delivery slip thing from royal mail today so hopefully I'll be up and running tomorrow!
I'd have been quicker going with the 13 year old Freelander MFRU at this rate!

Collected the MFRU fresh from Eliseparts tonight.

Dowsed the plug in electrical contact cleaner and gave it a bit of a soak, let it dry/shook off excess, repeat, repeat, repeat...
Plugged it back in, jumped in the hot seat, turned the key... dash lit up....... fuel pump whired and engine fired up!!!!! <BG>

Took it for a wee spin to blow away the cobwebs and it's an amazing wee car again rather than just keeping a bit of road dry!

The ticking in the dash has stopped and the battery lasted 10 days with the old MFRU disconnected so hopefully that's what was draining the battery.
Just the mileage correction to go now...

I also owe Robin a big thanks for his time, diagnosis and knowledge! He's a far handier resourse than the AA for these cars... I wonder if he'd take an annual fee to be a fourth emergency service!

Thanks,
Alistair
