REIS - Won't even give me a quote!

Post by I-Mac » Wed May 04, 2011 11:24 am

Reis - Not happy with them. Apparently their underwriters have very strict rules. Because I have not previously owned a 2 seater sports car in the past 5 years I cannot even get a quotation!

Tried to explain that I have other cars which are faster and more poweful than the lotus, but because they are not 2 seater they cannot quote?!?!?! Weird....

.....Not impressed.

They won't even touch VX's any more because a few folk wrote theirs off last year.

I gave up with CCI after a whole week of them not returning my calls just to get a quote - funny business model.

Henderson-Taylor basically seems to act as a sub-broker for them though and he always answers the phone, or replies to emails promptly (same policy and paperwork - and same long wait before the man at AVIVA bothers to put your car on MID!!). I had to join SELOC though to get a discount as he didn't recognise SE. This year his price was a lot cheaper than my REIS renewal.

Got a good quote for the Exige from Matt at Henderson Taylor the other day, £340 including 6 trackdays. REIS were similar but the windscreen cover only went up to £500 and they wanted extra for enhanced cover up to £1000.

I renewed with REIS no problem this month. I've recently moved to an even dodgier area of Glasgow yet my premium only went up a tenner to £360. I have found them a joy to deal with. :thumbsup

I tried REIS for the first time for the Exige, they were quoting over £500 more than CCI so they seem to be very hit or miss.

They probably heard you had been faffing around in a girly car for a year or so. :welcome :blackeye

Does seem a variance, but they are rather specialised in their cover of two seaters and you have to track your car and be over 25. Maybe they get less claims this way as they have never had one from me, but one would expect that. :D

I think that they work perfectly for certain drivers, i.e. where else would I get cover with eleven points on a S/C Honda Elise for £320.

Ask for Lindsey Farmer at CCI, absolutely first class, incredibly quick service, the whole of FF covered in terms of trackdays as done through LOT, plus 6 additional trackdays...

All for the tiny amount of £370. I'd have paid more just for the pleasure of having a lovely young lady to deal with, having her direct dial, actually having someone that called me back, and explained everything to me in plain English.

Discount for Walshy day and also for being an SE'r....

I have asked and she was more than happy for me to post this on SE.

I'm sure Lindsey was the last person I spoke with there when I re-insured the Shugmobile after it's lay-up. Echo your comments about the quality of service. :thumbsup
