I found the S2 Elise seats (pre-Probax) comfy for a couple of hours at a time.
Probably the best single piece of advise you can give anyone new to an Elise is to relax, full stop. In contrast to most 'normal' cars that do their best to try and insulate you from everything, the Elise talks to you all the time through every contact point - too much sometimes. So when you're new to it, you end up hanging onto the wheel with a death grip, tensing everything up as it feels like it's jumping all over the place. The second you relax your grip and let the wheel move about, you realise that it doesn't change where the car goes, it's just the front wheels reacting to bumps and camber. Once you've relaxed that, you kind of just melt into the car and it's no hassle - the whole experience becomes much more flowing and you certainly don't get sore neck and shoulders. Trust the car and you can drive along in pootle mode no problem with one finger and thumb on the wheel just to guide it.
As good old Obi Wan Hoy used to say, "soft hands, Shug, soft hands..."
