recommendations what to do next ? accident claim

My Elise was in minor bump in February, is still fully driveable but the insurance crap is going on painfully long with no progress i can see of and looking for suggestion for what would be the next best steps as I would like to force something useful to happen apart from phoning my broker every week ?

It was a no fault accident by my wife in the car - someone ran into the back while car was stationary at pedestrian crossing lights. previous thread - http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =5&t=29131

My broker (MWA with CCI insurance) is still speaking to other insurance party. At moment after 5 months I still am not been told whether other client has raised the accident with their insurance or what stage it is at in terms of claim process and liability even although i keep asking via my broker to find out exactly where it is. Unfortunately at time my wife didnt take full details or any note of other people about etc etc and it was a taxi driver who hit my wife yet the initial personal dealings were with a 'relative' and his insurance details who tells me he has given all information to his Jersey based broker months ago. i also went down the accident management route near the start but they lost interest after a few weeks and didnt want to take on the claim.

i been through all this before and lost out a previous time when it wasnt my own fault so want to progress this partly for the principle as this is what we pay all this money for one as well as the financial hit if it remains another claim noted against my wife,

Contact the other party's insurance directly. Tell your own insurance company that you're doing this. It's not hard - they are at fault and will be forced to admit this pretty quickly given it's a rear end shunt.

If you want to force your own broker to do it, send me their telephone number and appoint me as your claims manager. Be prepared to have insurance refused next year

I feel your pain Ian. I went through a similar type of hassle in 2006. Driver gave me details, Police took details - 2 didn't match up. Police checked no crime committed that they could see ( 'error' in name given to me ) .

Insurance company were next to useless - I did all the chasing up to discover (with Police info) that driver who hit me had his policy cancelled ( post accident - wtf !!) so I than pursued the owner of the vehicle ( father of driver) and his insurance paid out as a gesture of good will - took about 7 months. I had racked up large hire bills and stopped hiring after a while in case I ended up payimg the several £k bill ( Car hire company even tried to get it sorted so I would continue to hire with them but they gave up too ) .
Insurance company did NOTHING to resolve.I would appoint Robin as your claims manager.

It does appear that if someone declines to tell their insurance company of their involvement in an accident theIr insurer either cannot or will not deal with the claim and leave the burden of proof to others- Police or third party.

Forget your broker, speak directly to the claims department at your insurance company. Plus as others have said, speak directly to the other drivers insurer.
The only time I've been hit by a taxi I'd had a call back from my insurer within the hour saying the other driver had admitted liability - I'd assumed this was because they didnt want any hassle when it came to licence renewal. If you get nowhere it may be worth speaking to whichever council the taxi is licenced by.

Yep, go direct to his insurer.
When I had my bump in the elise my insurer were useless, I did it all myself.
