I think Alans first run was 55.75 which made him first in class by a couple of seconds.

5 seconds actually.....

Competition was stiff too....

230 bhp westfield was there.....

Look tossers, all I've done is enter a Sprint in a standard car to see if its for me.

The sprints are good fun, trying to get a good time etc... but one thing that did annoy me was all the "experts" commenting on how peoples line was wrong and how that car should be doing sub 10 sec laps.

Good advise I appreciate, as believe it or not I'm new to this but for slow ass drivers (like Gareth ) to spend the day criticising other competitors, I find a little hard to swallow.

And if you think you're that good, give it a go and put your money where your mouth is. Otherwise your all talk and no trousers.

Class record is 52.26, held by Jonathan Rarity in his Caterham R500, made on 8 Oct 2006.

IIRC Jonathan had shared Norman Murrays R500+? for that event...something up with his single seater.

Anyway very fast car which I'll wager was setup without too many budgetary constraints and VERY experienced, multi championship winning driver...

I think your driving really well, too well. sprinting needs a bit more control. Maybe thats down to tyres and the car not been set up right.

You know its all a laugh, with maybe some truth...

If I continue, decent tyres and setup is really needed. It's perfect on bigger tracks but I did struggle for grip on Sunday.

I never criticised anyone! I actually went along to cheer on you and Matt...but whatever.
For the record for...I watched...and was bored inside 5ive minutes. I don't get sprinting. IMO it's dull.
If my Lotto number had come up I'd be away racing Porsche Cup etc. Been the slowest guy on the track and not given a fcuk!

Dave Logan and I only stayed an hour but I wished you good luck and left.

I'm not the only one to state it was quiet. There wasn't much to compete with. Did you not basically have the fastest time (in your class) in your first practice session? Says it all really.

Did I not also state that I thought it was good of you to get into sprinting after your accident. Just like Scotty after his upside down adventures in a ditch and entering the LoT series thing.

Anyway, I'm off to polish the 340R...

Yep - I find it dull to watch too.

Driving aint always that much fun either - depends on your mood, mindset and the competition. I'm having a season of coming last in class because I'm driving an eBay special that cost less than most of my competitors have spent on tyres. Some days its pretty frustrating, some days its great fun. I quite enjoyed Sunday because Alford is an unusual track for me and I was able to 'explore' the limits of the wee Pug's grip. I'm not entirely sure I know what I'm doing with FWD and going round corners on three wheels but there you go - its a learning expereince.

Alan - sorry I never got the chance to come and say hello - I was quite occupied with the kids and when I did come over and spoke to Iain and Jen you weren't around.

Looks like buying a Caterham was a much easier way to add lightness than cutting bits off.
