The more I read about water cannon the better is sounds yes it could be deemed over the top and yes the UK goverment has condemed the use of UK made water cannons by country's we sold them to but you can fit them with coloured dye (I am suprised they didn't use orange and green dye's in Ireland. Orange for Republican, Green for the loyalists

) and you even get electrified water cannon - woo
And you can't just shoot them however tempting that may for one good reason.
Thats what started this in the first place.

The idea of the military on our streets terrifies me and someone will inevitably be killed. However, I would far rather that a few of these thugs suffer the fatalities rather than some poor family trapped in their homes when the plebs set it alight. That being said it seems like our moronic politicians have ruled out water cannons which would surely be the most humane option? I also love the idea of the dye so that these muppets can all be identified, but I suspect it would cause even more severe damage to the area. As it has so brilliantly been said on Twitter, "Just a heads up, if anyone is ready to complain about the police being "heavy handed" tonight could they now queue to kiss my fcking arse." Given the latest controversies the police have one arm tied behind their back and it is the rest of us who suffer. What about everyone else's human rights?

"We have officers available as necessary to deal with any contingency," the [Met Police} spokesman said.
No you haven't. Or if you have, and I don't want to speak out of turn here, why not use them.
It is easy for the left to blame "society" as a root cause of these riots.
It is just as easy for the right to blame the Police's poor response for them.
The truth has got to be somewhere in the middle, that the Police are not controlling a relatively small number of looters and rioters seems, to me, unbelievable.
But that people have grown up believing that this is in any way appropriate also seems to beggar belief.

The Army should be drafted in to assist the Police and swell numbers thereby allowing them to be in more places at the same time and react quickly to a fast moving highly volatile situation. The problem they have now is that it's spreading out of control to other cities like Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds etc and in the usual suspect neighbourhoods that already have high unemployment, social deprivation and no shortage of scumbags

Pretty sure the likes of America would adopt a slightly different approach in a situation like this. Makes me embarrassed to be part of the UK.

Police have a lack of power behind them nowadays...
Police brutality can take many forms, and that's what the looters will use, then sue the government after events have passed...
Seen the news yesterday and watched it a good 2 hours, just feel so sorry for the private owners of stores, there screwed bascially..... watching at home and crying....bet if they went down and tried to stop yobs demolishing there family buisiness.....it will be on tv and be presecuted....canny win!
the like of big outlets, not so sad as they will have something to recover on....but still a bad situation...
WTF where the cnut doing to the bookies TV? just trying to rip it off the wall? absolute no sense, no morallity,
Like i says to everyone who mentions it, its just JUMANJI the movie

It’s a horrible vicious circle!.........the police set up an investigation…taxper pays, ok..fine then the police collect up the youths …which cost the taxpayer. Then they charge and fine them …they don’t have any money, so they go to jail, if they are old enough…sit in a cell which cost the tax payer again. Do the time, and are let out and start claiming benefits again, and start planning another riot....
And remind me who won that one…not the bleedy tax payer that’s for sure!
There must be a way we can get them to pay back into the community ...........
in the old days they used to have them on prison ship and sent them away to Australia…cant do that anymore……

wonder if we can send them off to the foreign legoin or to Afghanistan or some other front line?

Watching the news last night and someone chipped in with a valid point. The Police are sh!t scared of doing anything that will land
them in court, thugs can throw bricks, petrol bombs etc but if one plod harms a 'protester' (term used loosely) then they will find themselves under the same media glare and witch hunt that followed the student protests.

At last we have a solution.
Our good friends The European Court of Human Rights have just announced that these youths are a misunderstood part of our society, and all they need is a good cuddle, and maybe a holiday in Bermuda to recover from the stress caused to them.

It is indeed desperate times for the UK Police Force. Rubber bullets have killed before, CS gas really does make your city look like a war zone and as for water cannons...
In the media frenzied world we live
Active Denial is what you need parked up on highstreets of trouble spots, watched a Discovery prog about it, seemed very effective. Googling highlights that the US intened on testing it on its own ppl prior to using it in combat and they would not do anything bad to their own would they ?
That fact that I even posted this highlights where our society has dropped down to, what are we doing fighting wars when we cannot even keep the peace at home.
That farmstead in Provence is looking more and more comfortable.

What the police should be doing is checking if they if they hold british passports. If not...oneway ticket to thier country of origin. No detention centres, no giving a sh!t if they will be killed when they return to their own countries just straight on a plane and don't even give them a seat, put them in a cage in the baggage hold.
So that might get rid of half of them. The other half...castrate them so they can't breed and make more useless wastes of space.
That is what should be applied to all criminal not just these rioters. It should be a privalage to live in the uk.

Oh bollocks. Have you seen anything to support your conceit that half of the rioters are "foreigners"?
Or is this just your own prejudices leaping to the fore?
