It's a fantastic all-rounder - and with winter tyres can go just about anywhere.
Don't worry guys, it was just a minor problem with a binding rear brake - which Skoda wanted to treat as "wear and tear"

Craig confirmed that the problem was still present after discs and pads had been changed - which helped me persuade Skoda of the error of their ways

Something to watch out for on your cars maybe?

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
The brakes on our Octy get such a workout from the constant mega load lugging that binding is unlikely but appreciate the tip off!
I think I'm going to need shocks soon though...4 bikes, 4-up, family tent and overfull boot last weekend...she looked slammed man...

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
A BIG THANKS to Michael and Craig at MMC for keeping me informed on the front clam situation with lotus.
also, a thanks to Neil Turner, at lotuscars, for putting the effort into finding a clam for me after my complaint. Although i might add that i had to waited 12 weeks!, i am glad that the issue has come to a good conclusion and i can get my car home finally
i hope that lotuscars will succeed in moving the manufacturing of the fibre glass clams back in house for better control and dispatch in the future.....

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
yes anything to speed up delivery.....talking to neil turner, he said that they try and forecast the order numbers, but this is obviously difficult to do, so when a large number suddenly appears so do the delays.........to add insult to injury he also said the company that manufature the clams is in france and they are on their summer holidays at the moment, so you wont get a peak out of them till mid septembercampbell wrote:or tighten up their clauses in the contract with the supplier...how hard can it bedirkpitt wrote: i hope that lotuscars will succeed in moving the manufacturing of the fibre glass clams back in house for better control and dispatch in the future.....

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Craig just e-mailed me, Ali was down first for a service, then Robin whose car threw a CRB, then Hendeg who sprung an oil leak.
Needless to say Craig sorted them all out and sent them on their way.

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
It's a bit late as Craig keeps reminding me
sorry mate, but here goes;
April 2010-Service & brake fluid change. Wheel bearing changed to fix ABS issue, new seat runners and tailgate hinges all under warranty. Front number plate reattached and TRD air box fitted. All washed, cleaned and returned in pristine condition. Oh yes and keeping the car for around 6 weeks while I was on holiday then stuck in Florida with the volcano ash!
March 2011-Service, MOT, brake fluid and gearbox oil change. Rear number plate this time after having melted the other one, again car returned in pristine condition
First class service, great feedback from Craig before/during/after the car is in MMC, all at very reasonable cost 10/10

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
To say that MMC saved my bacon would be an understatement.
Clutch release bearing failed at 10:20 as I pulled up at the lights down the road from MMC en route to meet some of the chaps and pick up the spare O-rings that needed replaced earlier and I thought it best to take some spares.
By 10:55 Craig and I had decided that the noise it was making was bad enough to warrant replacing before the trip.
By 2:30 the car was being road tested and we were ready to head off to the boat - unfortunately not quite as the clutch pedal had to be adjusted - another 15 minutes later and this was done (three mechanics plus me in the seat
).
Even so the run to the ferry was "toight" as they say ...

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
Excellent service again at MMC. My car was in to get looked at after having gear selection problems, turns out that it required a new clutch.
Work was completed quickly, and the car is running smoothly once more. Thanks again Craig.
Ps. You now have me looking up reviews about the Exige S, and CUP versions, and I am looking forward to getting a test drive in one after our conversation.
I see that there is an orange 255 CUP for sale through Pistonheads, and on here on SE. The car currently resides at the end of my street.

Re: Big thanks to Murrays in Edin again
First service for the 340rr by Lotus dealer since 2002, No small feat either but handled incredibly professionally by Craig and the team in amazing time and with intricate detail applied.
Very very happy with the service and the work.
