First open heart surgery completed.

New oil pump for Egor .. spent the day at Bob's with Emma in tow (she didn't go to the 'dam with the revellers and was getting a lift from me). Oil light came on at the end of the day at ZV - went out in the car park but no explanation of what caused it (though I suspect G's in the first/last corner might have something to do with it ... KU39's rock ;-)). Decided to change the oil pump to be sure (an expensive insurance policy as it turned out). Fitted new pump and back together in 5 hours - not bad considering I'd never done one before I think. Then the stupid car wouldn't run right. Decided I must have managed to get the valve timing wrong (actually not that likely as I've done it once or twice before) but was the logical conclusion. Eventually stripped it all back down to the pulleys and checked timing ... was correct ... WTF). Then rememeberd that I had seen this type of rough running on Andy's (Dunfermline) car and it was the coil pack - checked coil packs and no continuity on HT side ... quick bit of contact cleaner and a rub with a magic cloth and the car was AOK again. sh*t. 4 hours wasted :-( On the plus side Emma was able to do a load of Carlimits work on Bob's PC while we pretended we knew what were doing :-)

Now chilling with some Pink Floyd and 11.6% beers :-) :-) You have to love him :-)

May not post any more updates as my telephone internet thingmy doesn't seem to work in foreign land :-)

6 hour drive to Macon tomorrow to catch up with the crew - prospect is for 38C eek.

Cheers,
Robin

Don't you just love them. Good to see that you sorted it out Robin and that it happened at the end of the session, good luck with the rest of the track days.

Where did you source the oil pump from?

6 hrs in the saddle at 38 degs won't be pretty.

Case of sport bottle water on the pax seat? Half for drinking half for spraying on yourself?!

Open heart surgery on UJI tomorrow too, Robin, while you are away and unable to instruct...new rear brake discs :damnfunny Will be settling you for these when you are back, btw, so that should help offset the oil pump cost!

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Zandy was as good as I remember.

Gave a couple fellow se'rs some introductory 211 pax laps to show then the way after we turned up late. :thumbsup

Some great antics out in Amsterdam but a very poor show from the stag going home early  ended up being one of the best nights out of my life.

If carlsberg did boys days out :thumbsup

I knew a place nearby who has all MG and other English cars paerts in stock.
but paying the price for having everything in stock appeared expensive :(

all is ok now, Robin an Emma left here at 9.30am and if all goes well they will be in the next FF hotel around 4 PM.

Clutch and oil pump in less than two days, must give him some tips on preventative maintenance before European trips.

Eek. I hope the rest of the trip goes trouble free. Still it wouldn't be the same if there wasn't at least one Elise in bits somewhere. :D

N1 has been with Craig for three weeks and had to have a lot of work done on it and parts replaced.

She is now back together and just waiting for the shocks to come back from Nitron after a £700 rebuild.

Unforeseeable of course, neither clutch nor oil pump could be anticipated, unlike wheel bearings, balljoints, brakes etc.
