Post by Rich H » Sun Aug 27, 2006 8:07 pm

How much should road tax cost? I've just shelled out £170 but I have heard rumors it should be £120???

Mine was £120/125 so you've paid too much!

However your car is pre-2001 so you're on the old system which means you get stung for £175 :(

Think mine goes up to £190 next time round, because the C02 band is the same as the Chelsea Tractor band (208g/km)

it probably not worth pointing out but only new cars have reduced VED

if you have the same engine in a van then it's not reduced the same, all vans therefore pay more as do motorcycles and even mopeds

They sure are.

I tried to tax the Focus as well for £0, as it is registered in my name, but the miserable burgers said it only applied to one car.

I could even see them wanting to ask how come I drive a Lotus Elise, if I am classed as 100% disabled.

Same reason that I can walk on water of course.

Can you do the water into wine thing too? Or does it turn to Laphroaig?

Oh hang on you turn Laphroaig in to water, I remember

I avoided that this time round as the muggles in our PO always take forever to process it and act like they've never taxed a Lotus before.. "what type of car is it?"...."is it very fast?"..... or the best one "doesn't your mother worry about you driving a car like that?" ...

Probably, but really, I need to get back to work, now give me the fcuking tax disc and let me go

Just call me Mr Patience, but I prefer the online method :)

Top tip

if you want to tax it in person and there is a DVLA office in town you can go there and skip the ques of pensioners and other folk who only go to post offices
